During the Atlanta game, Brian Propp was praising Josh Beaulieu (sp.) as a player made for "the New NHL." Anyone have opinions on him?

I hope he makes it just because he has a great name for a hockey player.

I came across the Karl Malden (Herb Brooks) 1980 US Olympic team movie on Versus the other night, and I heard Al Michaels mention Zinetula Bilyaletdinov (of the Soviets). That has to be top five.

Would you believe that was Michaels first time calling hockey? And he handled names like that on top of calling good games, when I heard that he got my instant respect as a announcer.

I recall reading that. When he did the Cincinnati Reds' games, he had an incredible call in the last inning of the last game of the (1972) NLCS when Pittsburgh led by a run and was about to clinch and head to the World Series; then Johnny Bench hit a game tying home run and the Reds eventually won.

Agreed. He may be fine for the Phantoms, but I don't see him making the Flyers.

I heard Propp talking about Beaulieu and wondered what player he was really thinking of, because the description he gave and the player Beaulieu is are two very different things.

How did this post all of a sudden stop being about Giroux??

I hope Giroux continues to improve his game this year and then goes out and gains another 10-15lbs in the summer. I think once he puts on a few lbs and continues to get stronger on the puck he'll have a way better chance at making the Flyers for good. I cant wait to see him play on the wing with Carter. I think he's the type of player that Carter needs. One that digs for the puck in the corners and can feed the "big shot" of Carters on a regular basis. The futures so bright I gotta where shades Well at least it is something to look forward to.

I think we should also go after Alzner in the draft cause D is what we need now and in the future. We have alot of forwards to fill only a few spots in the next few years but who do have on D?? We cant always rely on UFAs we need to have a few in the draft pool as well.

Johnny Bench called his shot that night. He knew the palm ball was coming and smoked it to right center field.

Giroux can still outscore Gagne. Calude has 39 goals and 13 games, almost a goal per game to score over 50. I do not think he will do it but I am pulling for him.

He is still at least one year away no matter how you look at it.
