Somethings are just not worth it...safety first. Hockey can be rescheduled, I just feel sorry for Carolina this is the 2nd time its happened to them this month.

Dang... was looking forward to it as well.

Neither are playing tomorrow... any chance of it being then or is the weather still a problem?

I think it is prevented because that would require three games in three nights for Carolina which is not permitted per CBA regulations. Carolina plays THU and FRI.

Ah. Though I am sure that has happened before? But maybe a day game at the start... but I imagine that was before the new CBA.

Devils did it is 09-10 and Sharks in 03... both times the rule was waived due to emergency circumstances.

Bad enough I would not want to go out and I have a truck. The wind is picking up to, not a night I would want to be out and about.

The best guess on our end is that it will be added to the end of the season. The only conceivable spot the Canes had open before then was filled when they postponed the Canes/Buffalo game last week

I remember in the 1970s, the Flyers played two games in two nights in Vancouver. One of the games was a re-schedule of a postponement from prior in the season due to a blizzard in Vancouver.

Three games in three nights...I'll have to give that one some thought (ah, you have the answer above).

This isn't the first time a Flyers' game was postponed in this series. Extracted from the history part of the first post:

Quote:
April 16, 1993 -- In a make-up game, Dimitri Yushkevich scored 1:15 into OT and the Flyers closed the 1992-93 campaign with an eighth straight win, 5-4 in Hartford. The game was originally scheduled for March 14 but was postponed due to a blizzard of up to 21 inches of snow (the prior day, the Whalers played at home to a crowd of 1,362). The Flyers outshot Hartford 4-0 in the OT. Mark Recchi, who ended the season with a club-record 123 points, joined Bobby Clarke as the only Flyers to hit the 70 assist mark. Andre Faust, who tied the score 4-4 and got the only assist on the GWG, was recalled the prior day.

Ya I guess it is all relative to where we live. I currently have snow piled 10'ft high in my backyard and nowhere to put it . But we are used to it and not a big deal to us , as it's the norm. Some pics on twitter tho , Vick had some and I was shocked at how little snow there was in comparison to here.

The Carolina beat writer (Chip Alexander, on Twitter) is speculating a possible game tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. but that is yet to be confirmed. And the Carolina-Ottawa Friday night game could be moved to Saturday. Apparently, that is the source of rumors lending to the belief the game could be played tomorrow. Nothing is confirmed.

Perhaps the lack of a callup is weather-related but that is generally an indication on severity of injury. That said, supposedly, Voracek was to take part in the pregame skate tonight to see if he could play. If so, another potentially positive sign. But...since there is no game, we'll have to wait for the next true update.

The Carolina beat writer feels comfortable that the game is being rescheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.

Awaiting official announcement.

Broadcast update: TCN and WMMR radio.

The snow isn't so bad as it is more than was expected. I went into work at 5am to try and beat the worst of it coming home. I just shoveled and will probably have to go back out in an hour. Some of the roads out there were awful.

The one thing I was looking forward to, being snowed in my college apartment, lol.

Oh well, it's probably for the best anyways. Just have to wait until tomorrow.

Your DOT has the capabilities to clear the infrastructure; while the Philly area is pretty capable compared to much of the rest of the country, when it's as cold as it is and coming down as hard as it is there isn't a lot they can do. There are too many roads and not enough plows.

States in this general region (approximately DC/Fredericksburg up to Philly) rely heavily on pre-treatment and salt to pick up the slack, instead of investing in a bunch of extra plows that often aren't needed. When the temperatures are this low, pre-treatment and salt doesn't make a difference and that strategy falls apart. At that point all that can be done is wait for the plows to hit everything, and I'm guessing without being up there that exit ramps and non-major roads are garbage right now.

With both teams in town you play the game, of course they will spin it as them caring about the fans, safety, etc etc but obviously it's the lost concessions they'd have with 2500 people in the building.

I've been to snow games, they're fun, if you're willing to brave the snow it's a nice opportunity to sit in a great seat depending how gestapo the ushers are.
