for Timmy. The guy is/has been our MVP all season long. Bjugstad can snipe, what a shot!! Winchester is such a battler with a warrior mentality, sorely missed him while he was out. Jovo with the clapper. Nice B2B for the guys.

Welcome back AG. We're still alive in this race and these next 3 games are HUGE. I really hope Timmy can get a win IN Boston as the team deserves to play their hearts out for him just like the way he's done it for them.

Annnnnd please beat those Leafs IN Toronto so my friends can taste defeat at the hands of the "lowly panthers"/"PUS*Ycats"/"Quebec Panthers-Nordiques" etc. Another 7/10 would be stellar and the chance to get back to .500 before the break would be amazing for all of us.

They need minimum 9 out 12 points to break even come Olympic break. Meaning they can only lose max once (edit: lose once in regulation. )... can't really see that happening but who knows. It's hard to get a read on this team.

Looking at the standings we really need to put together another one of those hot streaks to realistically make any move toward making the playoffs. We have been playing .500 hockey since mid-December and that is just not going to cut it.

Pulling for the Panthers, hopefully we can get hot here soon and make a serious push.

Never know what Tallon has planned for the trade deadline.....2 of our next 3 are against teams we're chasing so that makes them each 4pt games. We have a fair amount of divisional/conference games left so it's still possible but I feel if our PP doesn't change than we will come up too short. STILL SEEING RED!!

This team is getting better. That's all I really care about. I so happy for Drew Shore. He should be up to stay this time. I'm really rooting for him after watching him play here in Denver. The DU Campus is about 10 minutes up the road from me.

Good points...

I have repeatedly said the key is IF this roster can stay within striking distance ( single digits?) the. Tallon and viola need to rent a scorer to give us an assemblance of a pp for there is no way to make a run and win 5 or 6 in a row with a pp less than 20%.

And I do believe we can stay within striking distance.

Then it's up to management to fill the voids.

our PP has been excellent last few years with a team of the same quality, adding a scorer won't change that in my book

Maybe im wrong, and my wife and kids tell me I am often, but garrison samuelson and versteeg 2 years ago were formidable pp talents. Assuming that not to be true, then our PP system this last 6 weeks needs a fresh pair of eyes.

yeah, these 3 did fine that year.

last year we were #6 PP with a worse team than today.

there's absolutely no need overpaying for ONE player to "fix" the powerplay

we need a whole new idea on the PP. i just don't know how to fix it, i think the cooling off kopecky is the biggest reason our PP is garbage this year

perhaps kopecky is part of the issue but it can't be all of it. looks like we're seeing the patience of horachek here. with some veteran teams, a coach could fiddle constantly. i'm not sure that's the case with the panthers. at least it seems clear that horachek doesn't feel that's the case. also, the unit has not been completely stifled in terms of chances despite the growing shutout streak. i think horachek seems to be waiting for that next one to go in and then gauge how they perform once the pressure's been relieved. often, just scoring will be enough to get things unstuck.

one of the problems is that there aren't a lot of other "new ideas". we're using the same formation just about every other team in the league is using. i suggested going back to a simpler overload formation, where you try to exploit 2v1s high and low on the overloaded side with the player on the half wall running the offense. you can also run a very common play that isolates the high defender and generate shots from the blue line or top of the circle (depending on which player the defender leaves). that type of stuff was PP bread and butter for a long time up until about 5 years ago. perhaps now that teams aren't practicing against it all the time, it'd catch a few by surprise. it's a little simpler at least and easier to generate shots off of.

Just a reminder, we need 7 points every 5 games. If we could manage just a small win streak (4 or 5 in a row) and avoid a slump... we could see ourselves back at 6 in 5. I don't think that's a ridiculous expectation. We just need a very tiny nudge in the W direction and .500 hockey the rest of the way.

I do agree with that.

My theory is maintain the 6/5 consistency to deadline; be buyers cause we are within sniffing playoff; and then be bolstered while sellers are weakened and make the 7,8 in 5 run then.

Possible 68 Points - 34 games , earned 43 Points = 68/43 = 63% ! 63% X
82 Games = 51.66 WINS ! = 103 POINTS !!!!!!!!!!!!! NO Verstig or
Markstrom + NO JOVO DOPE = STANLEY CUP !!!!!!
