Again, this makes ellis expendable. My best guess is that Poile found a package he liked for Ellis and will move him in the near future. Probably selling high with how well Ellis has been playing lately. If Ellis is moved for a forward prospect of equal value, does your opinion about this trade change?

This trade is more about needs than wants. We needed a LHD. We had too many RHD. It worked out perfectly. Now we just have to move a different redundant piece.

Boys... good luck with DZ. I can't wait until 4 years from now when you guys are still using the term "upside" to describe his game. He is addition by subtraction for the NYR.

We kind of have a thing for developing defensemen, thanks for the concern though...

I think a change of scenery will help DZ. It also seems AV wasn't DZ's biggest fan.

What can we expect from Klein? Steady play in the top 4?

If MDZ can regain his form from 11-12, you guys certainly win this deal. He's been in the league five years and is still only 23, with a ton of potential. I think a change of scenery is exactly what he needs and he'll gain his confidence back and play better hockey, he just wasn't getting the minutes in NY playing behind McDonagh and Staal.

If we're gonna trade Del Zotto there's nowhere I'd rather him be than Nashville where I know the fans are gonna treat him good. Congrats on a good trade.

Not when the forward help we could of got for Klein is prob better then anything we can get for Ellis

I don't think you've watched enough of Del Zotto to justify labeling him as terrible.

He struggled a good portion of the year when AV was forcing him out of position. Ironically when he plays on the left he's a completely different dmen.

There aren't many 40point dmen with the physical edge at 23 years of age in the NHL. Additionally, MDZ's defensive game isn't mediocre in any way. He's not a shutdown dmen, but he can do more than hold his ground -- when he's playing on the left.

Only because he was forced to play the right side. When Staal was injured with his concussion and puck to the eye, DZ slotted in on that top 4 LD spot and played brilliantly.

If he regains that form you guys will like him instantly. It is all about confidence with Del Zotto. If he has it, he can play like a top pairing dman at times (no exaggeration). When he has no confidence he is good for 2-3 brain farts a game and looks like a borderline AHL player. He should get a fresh clean start in Nashville and do well for you guys.

We trade a KK long term friendly contract for a guy whose contact is up at the end of the season.

You're getting grit with Del Zotto. He has a physical edge to him. You'll notice that his very first game. And despite only being 23 years old, he's a 5 year veteran now.

I'll visit your board in a few weeks. I think the opinions on Del Zotto are going to heavily differ after your fanbase spends a few games keeping a keen eye on him.

Del Zotto has been awful this year, but if he regains his form, it's a fair deal. It pretty much necessitates us moving Ellis before season's end, though.

Which 30G scorer were you thinking? We're talking about Klein here. 30G scorers are generally 1st line forwards.

I'm not so sure this will be a popular move with the rest of the team.
