I'm thinking Couturier and Vinny break out their offensive slumps. At least I really hope so.

I'm not happy that Emery is starting. Mason can handle it, and after an okay night last night, going right back to him would give him some confidence he is sorely lacking right now.

The game time should be switched to 8:00 PM instead because the Flyers have never bothered to show up in the first period anyway.

In all seriousness though - this is a must win. Columbus is right on our tails in the standings and would leapfrog over us if they win tonight.

Per Carchidi, "Flyers are considering putting Lecavalier back to C on second line tonight with Schenn going to LW, Simmonds is at RW."

Hey! let's **** with a line that's producing so that ONE GUY can do better! Dumb...

So Hartnell goes to first or third line? If they move Vinny to 2C, Schenn needs to go to 1st line LW and Raffl to 3rd line LW

Edit: or if this is true I wouldn't mind seeing a Read-Couturier-Schenn line

Would be good, but I doubt he'll do it. The first line gets better, the second line gets worse, and the 3rd line gets better.

Thats what would be the obvious choice... so it won't happen

Yeah I saw that too, I'm not saying it's gonna happen, I'm saying that's what I'd like to see.

I think it says a lot about the head coach that we can all agree on this... not good.

So that means they will keep the 1st the same and move Schenn to LW, and drop Hartnell down.

I like Raffl... but it seems like Berube now thinks his 1LW slot is untouchable if this is the case!

10-40-17

That makes the 3rd maybe a minuscule bit better than it was, (Hartnell can play a bit of D and actually bothers back-checking/does not insist on playing centre even when Couts is there!) and the 2nd far worse at a glance.

Though who knows... maybe it works. But it is completely relying on Vinny re-finding his form.

Hartnell's earned his shot to get back on the top line. Instead, they demote him to a line with lesser offensive talent. Makes sense.

Raffl is simply not a top six player, at least not as a rookie. He's really looked overwhelmed at times lately.

Lines as of now per Sam:

Quote:
Flyers lines: Raffl-G-Voracek; Schenn-Lecavalier-Simm; Hartnell-Couturier-Read; Vande-Hall-Downie.

I couldn't possibly disagree more. Hartnell shouldn't be anywhere near the top line. He isn't even playing well, his points are just a result of Simmonds and Schenn playing really well. He's ruining more chances than he's creating too.

I disagree. Hartnell has been forechecking his ass off. Taking the body well down on the boards and is winning battles. That is what makes that 2nd line so effective, Hartnell and Simmonds were both winning board battles creating space. Hartnell has even been noticeable on the back check as well. He has 8 points in the last 7 and has only been trending up. You don't get lucky and put the puck in the net that much in those games. If that were to be true, I have no clue why Raffl still only has 15 points while playing with Giroux and Voracek. Hartsy has battled back and is back in the form Flyer fans like to see. Of course he still makes boneheaded plays like cross ice passes and such, but he isn't skilled. He is a banger, who has done his job very well the last 3-4 weeks.

I honestly think Hartnell is still getting hate because of the way he was playing early in the season. Then he was pathetic, now he is playing like a second liner again.

Vinny's back at center, he better have a productive game. I was enjoying B Schenn at center.

Raffl just isn't a first line player in this league. He's good along the boards but that's basically where it ends with him. When will this madness end?

I also think it has something to do with the nature of his mistakes. You just don't see sheer dumbness very often. It stands out more than eg laziness or a lack of effort, because it's less common. So some people will never forgive it, it's more fun to hate him than to see a turnaround, I guess.
