If they are mostly on their game, that D can be solid. That's their ceiling.

If they aren't on their game (since outside of Timonen they're all good at only one thing), it's gonna be a trainwreck. I think this stretch is the worst overall this group has played in the last calendar year, and much of that is probably tied to Grossmann taking a big drop in performance.

Tbh with the way our D is I am not sure any coach could make this team a consistent success. The Flyers average like 3 goals a game through their last 182 games (the team has not changed that much skater wise in that time)... yet are not having success.
Back in the Richards/Carter days it was mostly just goaltending Homer never fixed, but now Timonen is old and almost retired and Pronger is done for so now it's the D and goaltending.

Berube isn't a truly terrible coach, but he has severe flaws and I hate his roster decisions and transparently hypocritical accountability schpiel. Honestly though, most coaches aren't adaptive so it's all about finding a coach that fits the team. No coach is going to fit this team like you alluded to because it's a very flawed team, but I can't stand some of his decisions honestly.

I know but that is still pretty unproven.

Berube says Vinny will stay in middle.

I agree. I blame Berube for his stupid lineup decisions, but the defense is a wreck. There's only so much he can do.

I'd seriously be open to trading anyone on this team. I just cannot connect with this team as a fan at all. There's just seemingly nothing there. They aren't fun to watch, and they just get worse and worse. Something needs to be done.

Load up on as many 1sts as you can, because it's going to be a while before this team is going anywhere again.

I don't blame much of this on Berube. The only thing that drives me mad is the mez/gus situation, which in his defense is complicated by Gus being hurt and Mez producing offensively.

The team overall looks better under him. Discipline has been a big problem for this team going back to Stevens. It's Holmgren who puts together too many undisciplined players.

Berube could scratch a guy here or there, but that's not going to do much

Not gonna happen, if Holmer does not step down, expect a Camalleri type to be added by Holmer for high picks.

That 10 game home win streak was BRUTAL to watch.
With that 5-1 road trip sandwiched in there.
Blech

I don't know why so many people like him there.

He sucks at D
He sucks at faceoffs
He's incredibly soft
He's knocked off the puck like a 3rd grader

The only thing he can do is shoot. He's got good hands too but since he gets thrown around for a big guy that skill is very diminished

Put him on G's wing and just feed him one timers

This Isles team is the exact opposite of the Flyers. This game is crazy

Couturier is suddenly useless, no offense and no defense.

Put BSchenn on the ****ing 1st line already.
That's some hyperbole but it isn't that far off.

Because he also sucked on the wing when he's been tried there earlier in the season.

Well if the Flyers had any intention of tanking to get the #1 overall pick, they can not win anymore than 6 games for the rest of the season, so from here on they would need at the best to go, 6-24. And if they wanted a top 5 pick the will probably need to go 10-20. Fleury, or Ekblad would be fantastic, but I have a feeling the Flyers will not go 10-20 the rest of the way.

It's sad that I'm only barely exaggerating. As far as usefulness I don't even think I am.

We'll they lost two in a row and going 0-6 next isn't too much of a stretch. Thats a start.! Then we would only have to go 10-14
