Losing Hall would not be ideal but it gives us great balance up front:

Perron-Duchene-Eberle
Yak-Hopkins-Hemsky (assuming he re-signs at a lower rate)
Talbot-Gordon-Mcginn
Joensuu-Arco-Hendricks
Avs say no.

Hell, they say no for a Hall-Duchene swap.

If we traded anything good for JJ I may need to seek medical attention.

No way I keep Hall, did you see how bad this team was when he was out. Duchene is a good player but having another small centreman is not what we need. Hall and RNH never get traded

I'm bored at work. How do these sound?

Hall + N Schultz FOR Kane + Bogosian
Gagner + 2014 1st FOR Ryan Johansen
Yakupov + Bunz FOR Pacioretty + Fucale
Marincin + Arcobello FOR Ehrhoff

I feel like I'd cringe on being marginally on the losing side of each of these except for the Ehrhoff one--which likely means they're all closer to fair value than I think. Feel free to roast/mock away. I'm just having fun.

Even more fun... post-proposal lineup creation!

Pacioretty-Nuge-Eberle
Kane-Johansen-Hemsky
Smytty-Gordon-Perron
Gazdic-Hendricks-Jones
Joensuu, Horvat

Ehrhoff-Petry
Belov-Bogosian
Ference-Schultz
Larsen

Bryzgalov
Scrivens

I wonder if you could tempt the new Sabres GM with an offer for their 1st round pick without giving up one of RNH, Hall, Eberle, Yak, Perron, Nurse or Schultz or their own 1st giving them the top two picks.

So what are you expecting to offer? Gagner, Hemsky and a 2015 2nd? If we want the pick, we're giving up at least one of those guys you mentioned

I was thinking that they have Petry, Klefbom, Marincin, the 2015 1st, Gagner, Arcobello, Pitlick, etc to offer.

Maybe they could be tempted into thinking they're speeding up the rebuild.

Although, personally I don't know if I'd be against the idea of Yak for Ekblad. If the rumours of him wanting out were true and he still feels that way, I'd think about it for sure.

Wouldnt mind playing it risky and dealing Schultz/Gagner + picks to a team who is hovering around the playoff bubble right now for there 1st in the hope they fall apart and we pick high.

Say Gagner + to Toronto
Schultz to Detriot/Washington

They want NHL bodies for a playoff push, but I could see these teams (especially Toronto) decline in the upcoming games

Pick Ekblad with the 1st OA, pick whosever left of Draisaitl/Bennett/Dal Colle with the 5-8th pick

Solve the #1D problem with Ekblad and the 2c problem with Draisatl.

Trading J Schultz allows us to bring up Marincin or Klefbom next year and not have to many young D learning the game at the same time

For those wanting the list, it's percentage of goal shares for D between 2007-2013 who played at least 2000 minutes. This is the bottom of the list:

Notable Oilers: N.Schultz, Peckham, Staios, Strudwick as the worst guy

Notable Others: J Johnson at 223, Fowler at 228, Bogosian at 213, Beauchemin at 201 (although Fowler and Beauchemin may be more special cases, because of that Carlyle god awful half season).

I forgot where I saw it, but it was stating that in Carlyles final year in Anaheim, they got destroyed in shot differentials. Which probaly have a big thing to do with FB and Fowler. As both look great right now.

Not suprised wit the Oilers

My thinking is that the Oil may have met their match when it comes to tanking this year as the Sabres are doing a great job. Plus I have a feeling the Oilers are going to win a few games down the stretch for some reason.

So if that's the case, and things stay as they are now, they'll probably end up taking Reinhart so my question is, what would it cost to get Ekblad? Would be an amazing draft if they could get both.
