We Should Become Sellers!!!

I am die hard ranger fan but watching the Rangers this year shows me that despite how much our managment has vowed to rebuild, it's all been a bunch of BS... Look at Pittsburgh or Washington and that is what I would classify a true rebuild and that is exactly not what we are doing. The odds are we are definitly not going to make the playoffs or even if we do we will not go far, thus sell all our crap by the time of the deadline and allow the kids to play. Including Jessman and the like... and maybe we will have a good team in a few years... I don't know about you, but I much rather watch kids who are trying and skating rather than vets who are lazy bums.

hmmm ONE 1 goal loss and they should have a fire sale? I thought for the most part, the Rangers were the better team tonight. One bad bounce. Come on dude, it was 1 game.

I think you having a short term memory problem, look at their performance before the allstar game and after... I know it's only one goal difference and not because a bad bounce... because of a bad play overall...

and yes I will repeat we should fire sale and rebuild from the start...

OMG stop living back in the Lindros days
who on the team right now can be classified as a "overpaid, overacheiving out of their prime veteran" other than mailk ? Straka, Nylander, Jagr, didnt think so. this team is suffering because of an incompetent coaches refusal to make linup changes to incorporate younger player in the line up

As currently constructed, this team is not making the playoffs

That's the truth. Take a look at the game tonight. Raycroft was playing well, Gill was all over Jagr and the Leafs in general played a pretty tight game. Now why is it that in games that are tight knit like this we're usually on the losing end?

It's because while the Jagr line's on the bench or getting covered well, the only other thing we have are lines of checking players. Shanahan has been great this year but what exactly is he supposed to do when his linemates are Krog and Hossa? The saga of having too many 3rd and 4th liners continues...I still say the only right solution is to get some of the kids up here and see if they can contribute something here. Because let's face it: Keith Tkachuk and Bryan Smolinski are hardly what keeps us from a Cup.

Probably the worst thing they can do right now is stand pat. If they keep this team going into the week of the trade deadline, they will be right where they are now which is 10th place chasing that 8th spot. Thats not the kind of team that adds a vet at the trade deadline. If thats where they find themselves in the last week of Feb., its time to start unloading.

If they are going to add a center to play with Shanahan and try to salvage this season, do it now. Do it while there is still time left to salvage the season.

I'm not saying that they should be sellers, I'm just saying this team with this roster is not going to cut it. I have no qualms with making the right move for a veteran center to play with Shanny. But if they stand pat up until the deadline it will be too late for this season.

The mood swings on this board are simply puzzling.

We win 6-1, we're a good team, all we need is a 2nd line center to have a legitimate shot.

We lose 2-1, lets trade everybody, have a fire sale, and just give up on the season with two months left to play and only a handful of points out of a playoff spot.

Come on now. We all survived '98-'04, I think we can get through a frustrating season of inconsistency without jumping overboard.

meh, any true hockey fan knows that the real ranger fans are harmless....less you're a devil or islander fan, then you just get $10 beers thrown at you. But thats a ten dollar commitment so you gotta respect it! But really =p giving up hope is something that a Ranger fan should just never get used to, imo atleast.

It's close but I think for the most part, Ranger fans are more Loyal and Respectful than other teams around the league. But certainly not overwhelming in numbers that apply to this, it is hockey after all. At least for a little while longer, until Bettman makes eye contact a game misconduct and swaps the nets for soccer goals, then makes jet packs mandatory so everyone can have speed like Pavel Bure. Until then though, hockey fans will be hockey fans!

Good God almighty. IT'S ONE GAME. If we beat Tampa Bay saturday, I expect a post like this:

"YEAAHH! LETS GO RANGERS! NEXT STOP: THE CUP!"

Amazing. Let's all just take a deep breath here. Were we screwed by the refs tonight? Yeah. Should we have played better? Definitely. But there is a long way before we even get to the deadline.
