Rocket Richard winner

Right now it looks to be Rick Nash at 31 goals. Naslund has 27 I believe as does Kovalchuk (or 28). Nash has been on fire. I'm a bit surprised that he only has 7 assists though. The thing I notice about him is that he seems to always have his stick on the ice at all times, like Cherry says. I hope he hits 50, or someone does at least.
Others in contention/darkhorses are Hejduk, St.Louis, Datsyuk and Hossa. Also Igina might get really hot and start sniping again. Surprised as well to see Bertuzzi goal total so low, although he has piled up the assists.

Bert had a really terrible first half to the season, although things are beginning to look up for him now. He has 4 goals in his last 3 games.

Naslund has a good chance and Kovalchuk's chances just increased with Heatley returning(assuming he shakes off the rust).
Nash doesn't have anyone to pass to that can finish, he is the finisher. He's got a nose for the net though and if he ever gets someone to play with that can hit the net(Zherdev is a passer), he'll rack up some assists.
Iggy has always been a streak scorer; heck he started his 50 goal season really slow too and fired it up in the second half. If Forsberg's in the lineup, Hedjuk has a chance still. Datsyuk's in a bit of a slump though.
I doubt Bertuzzi can get it unless the PP goes like 40% the rest of the way with him knocking in a bunch of them.

If Nash cools down look for Kovalchuk to win it and if he doesn't then watch out for Hossa, he always gets hot in the second half and if those bondra whispers we hear in ottawa are true, than his odds just got better.

I have a feeling Hossa is gonna come out with the Rocket Richard this season with Kovachuk as a close 2nd.

I think with Forsberg back Hejduk is going to have a big 2nd half and take it. Hes been simply on fire over the past month and Forsberg looks like he hasnt missed a beat since coming back. If Forsberg can stay healthy, Hejduk is my pick.

Gut feeling is that Nash will cool off and Nazzy or K'chuck will take it.

Is Markus Naslund seriously that underrated? Rick Nash, a 19 year old, over a 30 year old Naslund?

Nash might win it one day, but please, no 19 year olds I don't think have ever won the scoring title.

There is a first for everything, you might even see it happen before you die.

I'll go with Nash, pending how effective Heatley is in his return, in helping Kovalchuk.

As a side question, will Nash reach double-digits in assists?

So you think that Mats Sundin can pass Nash, Kovalchuk, Naslund, etc... and get the most goals this season? You do know the Rocket Richard trophy is not voted on at all. It is just who has the most goals...so there would be no way to count the significance of the goals.

Anyways, it is tough to say who could win it, because there is plenty of hockey left in the season. I hope Nash will net 50, and hopefully a couple other players do. Wasn't there only one 50 goal guy the last 2 seasons? I know Hejduk got it last year, but did Iggy get 50 the year before? I hope Ilja and Naslund get to 50 also. I think it would be cool if a 19 year old kid won teh trophy though

Definitely a possibility there. Hedjuk has 25 goals now, same as he did last point last season with 30 games to go. He proceeded to score another 25 in those 30 games to win the trophy.

Naslund will win it, IMO. Hejduk could give him a run for his money if Forsberg remains healthy......since that is doubtful. Naslund it is!

Its a toss up after that.

I hope Nash, but it'll probaby be Hejduk if Forsberg doesn't get injured again... There's a good chance of either Kovalchuk or Naslund winning it if they get (or stay) hot for a while, but I'd bet on either Nash or Hejduk over either of them.
