I was in section 11 Row 8 from the field. I was almost drowning in Devil's fans tears down there. I think I could hear Marty crying as well.

The genesis of the tax break was that in the early 80,s the Rangers had threatened to move to possibly New Jersey and MSG and the Koch administration reached a 10 year deal for the tax breaks which would extend as long as the Rangers never had a home game in NYC at another venue. The NHL wanted a Bruins/Rangers WC going back to when the original Stadium was around and they definitely wanted that game when the New Yankee Stadium opened. The only reason the Devils and Islanders got involved was the NHL way off circumventing this tax break. The NHL would take a Bruins/Rangers WC in Yankee Stadium in a heartbeat.
Again, this is all speculation. There was also talk that the Yankees weren't interested in hosting this event for fear of what it would do to the field and they didn't want the last event at the old stadium to be a hockey game. I believe the deal was made before 84, as the Devils were already in Jersey. Brendan Byrne arena was being built and didn't have any teams committed to the arena. Building started going up in 77, opened in 81. Devils moved there in 82.

this all went down during the 1980 to 1981 time period, the Brendan byrne arena was built and the rangers were threatening to move to jersey, the Koch administration gave the rangers, knicks and msg a lifetime tax break in order to keep them in manhattan

Weds game get in price is now up to $66:
http://www.stubhub.com/new-york-isla...-2014-4449017/

one thing to consider is that the first UPS cutoff is 3:00 pm today and the final cutoff is 3:00 pm tomorrow, so supply will drop suddenly. For people interested in get a VIP hospitality pass, you can still get them for $155:

I was in row 12 and was worried about it being too far back but I saw everything great.

Nope, you'll have a great view. I always prefer watching hockey in the broadcast view, opposed to the ends. 418 is a great section, and you're high enough to see all of the action.

One thing I noticed is the wind wasn't that bad up in the actual seats, but it was BAD in the concourses. Much colder down there for sure.

I picked up a mega pack of the handwarmers at CVS for like $7, came with 10 or so of 2 hand warmers. So in total there was 20 handwarmers. Brought the whole thing to the game and it was a life saver, me and my gf ended up using like half of them between the two of us.

It's a Rangers section; hopefully not.

The ice glare from the red light behind the Devils goal was very distracting.

1st row in the upper deck would probably be the best seats in the house. I sat in the mezzanine level in the 1st row and the seats were great but a little higher up would have allowed a better view imo.

For people buying tickets against the fish sticks keep in mine the higher you go the windier it will get and it's gonna be a cold one wed night.
