Timonen throws down the gauntlet

Who will or won't wake up?

Quote:
Flyers using bad loss to Bruins as wake-up call

“If that loss doesn’t open eyes ... you don’t even have to look at the standings,” Kimmo Timonen said. “We have to look at that game and what happened.

“That’s one of the top teams in the league, and they showed that to us. So if that’s not a wake-up call for us, you’re not supposed to be on this team.”

I like it. Hopefully this wakes up the team. They can't afford to be slipping right now.

I honestly don't even care what they do from here on out. My minds already on the draft.

Feel horrible for Kimmo. A true warrior and he will go down as one of the great guys to wear the O&B

If they can't right the ship before the Olympic break (that's 6 games) then Homer needs to sack up and sell off the big pending UFAs (Mez, Kimmo and Downie) and some vets as well (Vinny, Streit, Grossmann and Hartnell) assuming players waive their clauses when applicable. It's painfully obvious this team isn't ready to compete but they can be in a few years if they play their cards right. My whole point is I don't want any panic trades of picks and/or young guys to make a playoff push this season. It really makes no sense.

The only reason I say don't sell off any which way the next six games play out is because anything can happen come playoff time plus the experience is good for Jake, Couts, Simmer and the Schenns cause these guys have very little in terms of PO experience.

Not entirely sure, but I imagine you are talking about being traded to a Cup winner? If so, I am in full support. Trade him to St. Louis for a first and maybe Ian Cole or something like that.

If the Flyers continue to fall, I totally agree with this. We need to sell hard. Getting rid of Hartnell, Vinny, and Grossmann should be a priority. Streit might be worth keeping. Selling the UFA's should also be pretty easy. Call up Akeson, McGinn, and Alt to see how they do.

I mean realistic options. The Flyers would waive him before they would ever trade him to the Pens.

I know everyone said, "It's Giroux's team, etc. etc," but I wish Timonen'd gotten the C, since Giroux'd be around after Kimmo retired.

The man deserves a Cup.

Please tell the last Stanley Cup winner that came out of nowhere? LA Kings? They were picked to win the cup before the season started by a lot of publications so they had a tone of talent? The flyers last run? They too were picked to win the cup that year before the season started. Plus they lost so not a great example. I always here the get in and anything can happen argument but it doesn't really hold up. You have to have talent for the which flyers really lack. That's why I am hoping for implosion over squeezing into the playoffs and getting knocked right out. Sell and build a true contender, not just try to make playoff revenue.

This

I really hope he can get a cup and being as though his future is uncertain and the Flyers certainly won't be competing I'm all for moving him to a contender.

I certainly doesn't happen often. But even making it past the first round would be a good thing considering the youth on this team.

Lirl. Plenty of teams would love to add Kimmo to their second pair.
