Yes, well, the Habs could in first pace, they could be hoisting the Cup and you'd still be saying that.

People who are thinking we are the worst team in the East need to sit down and look at the Eastern conference. There are no surefire teams, other than Buffalo and Ottawa. All the other teams in the conference (including Buffalo and Ottawa) have had slumps. Even though we have played poorly for the last month, we still have a quality side, and given where we play, we still have lots of room and time to turn it around.

Its time for Ryder to learn more than a one dimensional game, and I think Streit deserves a shot in the top 6. I think a Higgins-Pleks-Streit line would be really good together.
Really like those ones. I mean why not, right? But why would Carbo possibly want to try out that 1st one for a game or four!

You can't expect the team to win when the 1st line dosen't produce. In the last 8 games Saku Koivu has 1 goal 1 assist and is a minus 6 and Higgins got NOTHING in the last 7. They need to put on the work boots and step it up, losing to the Islanders at home is not acceptable.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I don't ever want to see Kovalev and Samsonov on the same line again!! Two-thirds of a season was enough.

I think Carbo will go with;

Higgins - Koivu - Kovalev
Latendresse/Sammy - Plekanec - Ryder
Sammy/Lats - Bonk - Johnson
Perez/Murray - Laps - Streit

next game....But I'd like to see;

Latendresse - Koivu - Kovalev (The only time Kovalev has ever played well is with Koivu...even on the PP)
Higgins - Plekanec - Ryder (Higgs and Pleks have undeniable chemistry)
Sammy - Bonk - Johnson (our best line these past 3 games)
Perez/Murray - Lapierre - Streit (Streit has been the hardest working player for the last 10-20 odd games, might get icetime on the top 3 lines)

I don't see Carbo sticking with the current lines in a tight playoff race...

TheDamned only shows up when the habs lose, to tell people about how right he was...and how he predicted the apocalypse.

It is hard to believe that this lineup beat the Habs.
Blake - Robitaille - Asham
Tambellini - Kozlov - Satan
Hilbert - Sillinger - Hunter
Simon - Nielsen - Park

Poti - Witt
Martinek - Gervais
Fhiv - Hill

This is a team mostly of castoffs.

It was all about heart, and the Habs had none.

Yashin, Poti, Gervais, and Bates all out. Martinek will probably be out a while with this injury also.

Who expected anything more than that before the season started?

thedamned is just venting because kovalev got booed today.

As for the game, Huet looked very shaky. He didn't look comfortable at all. Lazy play by kovalev on the GWG. And then souray turns it over via higgins skate to the wrong guy.

Bottom line, the isles were sharper than the habs especially in the 3rd.

This was not the way you would like to follow up on 2 spirited efforts against the sens/pens..... but perhaps it was an emotional letdown to play against the isles after those 2 big games as well.

Either way, I expect abby to be in net tommorow.... and another spirited affair.

I agree that we are not the worse team in the east. Like I mention earlier and at the beginning of the season, we could be everywhere between the 6th and the 10th position.

The only problem is that we don't only have problems because of a slump. If you remember well, when we were the second best team in the east, we had two extraordinary reasons who could explain that.

1-We had the best PP and the best PK in the league.
2-Huet had a 93,6% save percentage.

Like I mention in mid december, we can't expect those two things to be as good on a full season course.

1-Others teams will learn to counter your PP/PK more effectively.
2-You can't expect a goaltender to maintain a 93,6% save percentage on a full season course.

So it was obvious that if we don't start to score 5 on 5, we won't be able to maintain our position in the standing.

So this is where we are. If things don't get better we could possibly be out of the Top 8 in the east by next week. This is now that we will know how is good is the Habs management. Maybe Carbo will find a more ''offensive'' line combination or maybe Gainey will shake up the team with a trade. We will know shortly.
