Habs interested in Jamie McGinn

Read in news today from Toronto Sun that Habs have scouts attending Avs games. Speculating that Jamie McGinn is available. Colorado is looking for blue line help and Diaz who was a healthy scratch might be traded for McGinn. Diaz was kept out of the lineup in case injury. McGinn has size but is considered a third liner. Perhaps a McGinn-Eller checking line in the playoffs.

There was a rumor that MB asked for McGinn in exchange for Bourque but the Avs only wanted to trade Parenteau.

And McGinn for Diaz?

Where do I sign?

Okay. So you have no source whatsoever about the potential interest in McGinn, except your own speculation?

Otherwise, the only "news" we have here is "Habs are checking out the Avs", which, let's be honest, is something we have known for the past 3 months, especially more with the recent trade rumors?

Monctonscout posted this in the Hamilton thread, might be related to the speculation.

The @BulldogsAHL have signed defenceman Myles Harvey to PTO because Nathan Beaulieu will remain with the #Habs this season

It means we've got 8 defenseman staying in MTL or one about to be shipped out.

9 when Drewiske comes back. If Beaulieu stays with the habs, someone will be moved.

This site is convinced it was montreal that declined the deal.

Move Diaz please. If we're not going to play him or re-sign him it makes no sense to leave him to rot in the press box for the rest of the year when he's clearly a top 4-5 dman with some value.

Posted links about this, two days ago in the Trade Thread: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...581915&page=32

HabsJunkie had already mentioned this in the now closed PAP thread, again, two days ago.

Here are the two links I had posted:

http://www.journaldequebec.com/2014/...u-jamie-mcginn

http://www.saultstar.com/2014/01/28/...medium=twitter

FWIW, the Le Match panel also confirmed that the Habs were after McGinn.

Doesn't this have to do with the speculations earlier this week? It was more centered around Bourque + with salary retention for McGinn/Parenteau. Some thing like that. Then it was also rumoured that Habs turned down the deal but later corrected it was the Avs who said no...

I wouldn't be surprised if those dolts had everything mixed up.

Whatever trade happens, one thing is for sure, Bergevin will probably screw it up

Watch it be something completely different like an AHL prospect swap.

Something around Mcginn and Diaz could help both clubs... The Habs may have to add a conditional pick in case Diaz doesn't resign. Really hope this deal goes through... Eller-McGinn can form a great checking lines for years to come.

I would definitely do Bourque & Diaz for McGinn but I'm not sure it would interest the Avs.

McGinn is a solid player and is better than a lot of wingers on this team but would ideally be a 3rd liner with Eller and Prust but we'd have to move out another winger for when Chucky is back so he can play in the top 6.
