Chipman also answers my question re: location. His best guess is NHL's next step is Seattle, either through relocation or expansion.
Unless part of the change of MOU to allow NHL first removes the timeline to secure the team i don't see how seattle gets a NHL team via relocation.

Personally, I think it helps: You instantly have a 3-way rivalry involving 2 of the newest franchises in the league; that's a great way enhance the hype that was invented by giving them teams in the first place. The marketing invents itself.

Well we were the landing spot for the yotes, so I don't think changing the MOU is the big issue that some people are concerned about.

Was talking a future relocation possibility like the coyotes again in 5 years.

(OT) Congratulations to the Seahawks in their dominating Super Bowl victory. Hopefully we’ll see a Stanley Cup contender in Seattle someday.

It was so bizarre to have everything go our way.

@realDirtyDish @realkcalabro Seattle's SB parade will be seen by NBA & NHL owners. Sends implicit message: they should have teams there too.
Its going to be insane on Wednesday.

Agreed - I live and work in Denver, and was dreading coming into the office today. Fortunately, everything worked out.

Ya, awesome, and a total rout by the Seahawks. Congrats to all the Washingtonians. Tides turned, and your right down the road from me. Now if you can ride the wave of the NHL to your shores, be just grand.

That's for sure, SD. I did see that McCann tweet also and think that was a very interesting point he brought up there. You have to believe that ESPN will have some sort of coverage of the event, so there will be owners likely noticing......

BTW, for the out-of-town folks, there will likely be webcasts of the celebration on perhaps all the local TV station websites (KOMO/KING/KCPQ/KIRO), so if anyone might be curious about how large a crowd shows up for this - and I would expect six figures for sure down there - you will have a way to find out.

So does this mean that I can now wear my Steelers jersey when they come in 2015 and there won't be as much hostility from SBXL? I can wear my UW hat if it makes it better!

If we had 2013 offense and Defense back in 2005 superbowl the steelers would not have won imo.

Went to the 2010 Hawks parade and sadly had to miss the 2013 sequel, and I still regret that even having been to one recently.

Enjoy the heck out of it if you can, folks!

Apparently the Storm weren't too happy with FOX's reference to 1979 and the Sonics.

Yea people seems to ignore that we have a pro womens basketball team that won the league title twice.

My understanding is the parade is to start at 11 am from around the space needle and then down to the football stadium. 2pm there will be another ceremony inside the stadium (tickets required for the stadium)

Unsure what local tv stations will stream the entire thing or air it on TV.

Its supposed to be cold tomorrow morning with temps in the mid 20s if not colder at sunrise and not likely to get above 32 for a high temperature. That colder than normal for this area where normal highs at this time of year is around 50 and lows around 33.

http://www.komonews.com/news/local/S...243579751.html

there was talk of schools refusing to close for tomorrow and that if parents held the kids out of school they would get punished. School superintended decided to let the individual schools decide on a case by case basis.

The Sounders also won four leage championships prior to joining MLS and then three straight US Open Cups from 2009-2011.

Only the seahawks season ticket holders got access to the tickets for the stadium.

The Mariners opened 27,000 seats in their stadium for people to sit and watch the ceremony on their large screen.

People have already started lineing up on the parade route.

7am partly sunny 22-26

1 am breezy and partly sunny 26-30

1pm 33-35 breezy and partly sunny

KOMO ch 4 ABC affiliate has said they will air the parade live on TV and online.

All of the local TV stations will be airing it live both on TV and on web. Here's the web one for KCPQ, who is saying they will also air the stadium ceremony as well:

http://q13fox.com/live/#axzz2sSOiJ2M3

They are live now with the morning news, but will continue past their scheduled signoff at 10am PST and into the ceremony. So if you log on now, you'll be able to just keep it there all day.

BTW, as an on-topic item, it will be interesting to see later in the day the reaction of NBA/NHL execs to how big the crowds are and what that says to them about Seattle as a market for their leagues. There's an estimate rolling around there could be as many as a million people down there freezing their tails off. Unfortunately, I will not be among them, but wish that I could be there too.
