Interesting thought, but I'd be shocked if they didn't give him whatever it takes to keep him. And if they moved him, I highly doubt Callahan (or Girardi for that matter) would serve as a centerpiece given that he himself is unsigned and I'm not sure what else we have of real value that we could move to get him without creating a hole elsewhere.

But - how about Galchenyuk for Cally plus a prospect...?

I'd start with a signed Girardi, Lindberg, and Fast.

Next year is make or break for Kristo I think. If he can't make the Rangers out of camp, he'll be 25 years old and not have a single game of NHL experience. It wouldn't be looking good for him as far as an NHL career.

Something stupid like Stepan, Kreider, Miller, picks is what it'll probably take.

An McD-Subban pairing would make me wet myself.

If Montreal were to trade him, they would get a king's ransom X900

I'd trade a hefty sum for Subban. But I think they only way we'd get him is moving McDonagh.

You could try to get him for something like Staal, Stepan, 1st, but really what sort of situation is our center ice at without Stepan?

And if NYR are going to chance Vanek they might as well give Gaborik a call too.

The craziest part to me is that McD-Subban should actually be a pairing. Dut Montreal.

Kristo just graduated college and turned 23 in June. I wouldn't start worrying about his age just yet. I would like to see him get some games in by the mid point of next year though… I haven't seen Hartford play this season, but his numbers are solid and I liked his game in preseason.

So… Montreal is more productive at providing our NHL team with defensemen than Hartford is!

I'm sure the Habs would love to trade their bigger, younger, better player who has a contract for an impending free agent. Seems legit.

I think Montreal would riot if we got Pacioretty for Callahan.

I would give organs to get Galchenyuk on our team. That would be a bigger steal than McD for Gomez.

Well, hold on now - are we talking your appendix or something that really matters?

Hey, as for the proposal - I can dream.

As long as I could live and breathe to see the Rangers, I would remove them for Galch.

haha of course i dont blame them if they did.. its funny their have been reports that patches and subban arent working well with therrien and there "not his type of players" something ridiculous like that..

but what if they see value in signing cally and come to some sort of agreement.. its crazy but no far fetched.. cally is still a 25 goal scorer 50pt player.. its the entire package teams like.. low maintenance player, leadership, grit, does what hes asked..

i am just speculating the big "what if" crazy but nothing should come as a surprise

Yes, but it depends on a couple of circumstances: Cally trade, Pouliot rest of season performance, and whether he can play LW. Even if Cally goes, Fast gets first shot IMO. Figure he shuttles between bigs and the A next year as first call up.

Yeesh!

So, back to the proposal, how about Cally and Miller/Lindberg for Galchenyuk (maybe MTL throws in a pick)? It's expensive, but I think I do it. Not all your prospects can play for you.
