Wow, that's pretty awesome.

He's 5th in the QMJHL in PPG, but this game probably raises him up a few notches.

5 out of Duclair's 7 points tonight came on the PP.

What are the realistic odds that Buch and Duc pan out to be top 6 wingers? Also what would a realistic timetable be on these two for their NHL debut?

Duclair is simply destroying the Q.

Buchnevich is getting top 6 minutes in the 2nd hardest league in the world.

Skapski is one of the only reasons his team is competitve, I'd be shocked if he didn't get a contract after this year.

And Tambellini is.......meh.

Still, very impressive nonetheless.
Even Donnay (our only undrafted FA in the CHL) has gone from -39 to +24.

I think guys like both of them have gone in all sorts of directions; it's hard to give realistic odds this early on a prospect who isn't a "top guy," even then you get burned sometimes. They're obviously both performing very well. Nice to see the organization go for volatile risk-reward picks with both of them and Tambo.

Buch won't be here for at least two years, if at all. He's got a KHL contract and he still has to work on his overall game, and bulk up.

Duclair could push for a spot next year, realistically. But it would be better if he went back to the Q for one more year. The best option in my opinion though, would be to go to the AHL, but he doesn't have that option. So it'll be interesting to see what Rangers' management does with him.

IF (and still, that's a big if) they both make the NHL, they can definitely be top 6 wingers. Buchnevich is top 6 or bust though, while Duclair's skill set can be useful for the 3rd line if his offense doesn't translate. If he makes the NHL, he can either be Carl Hagelin lite, or Evander Kane lite.

They're both very exciting prospects, however. I can't wait to see them on NHL ice, if they make it.

Duclair now leads the Q in goals scored with 44 and is second overall in points with 82 (6pts behind Mantha, who has played 8 less games though).

Is he a PP specialist or is that just the way this game went? Also was he getting a lot of second assists?

Is that supposed to be bad? Having a PP pro isn't a bad thing. It's not as if he's Max Campbell who could only score on the PP in college, but couldn't do much any place else and wound up in the ECHL.

More importantly, look at the players he's behind.

Anthony Mantha, who's a year older and 5 full inches taller than him. That gives you an immeasurable advantage in the QMJHL, where half its players are underdeveloped.

Jonathan Drouin, who's easily the best prospect in the world.

And Darcy Ashley, an overager, who plays with Jonathan Drouin.

That's some great company there. And he's very close to challenging Mantha for the QMJHL points lead.

Duclair is 4th in the league in powerplay goals with 15, and 3rd with powerplay assists with 23. 38 PP points. That's about normal for a top point getter, even pretty impressive for somebody who isn't a defenseman.

Of the top 5 assist getters on the powerplay, 3 are overage defensemen.

Only 2 of his 5 assists tonight were secondary. Both of his secondary assists were on the PP.

Complete opposite actually, I'm saying he's showing he can be a real weapon on the PP. He also has that elusive right-handed shot..

He's not right handed.

I have serious doubts about his ability to play in the NHL unfortunately. Though he's having an excellent year.

Actually had a feeling that was the case lol. Oh well. Point still stands that he could be dynamite on the PP.

Absolutely. 38 PP points this year. He's very dynamic on the powerplay, in that he's willing to go to the net, hang in front of the goaltender, and shoot from the halfboards. He has an okay slapshot, but he rarely to never uses it.

I would take Mantha over Drouin right now, though I may live to regret that statement.

Never in a million years would I.

Mantha has a tendency to be very lazy shift to shift. He uses his size to his advantage a little too much, in that he just overpowers the competition on pure strength, rather than effort. That won't fly in the NHL. It's a bad habit a lot of bigger players in major juniors have a tendency to develop.

Even if he breaks these habits and gets his head straight at the NHL level, Drouin is way more dynamic than he is.

Players like Anthony Mantha are why you really have to watch games to get a feel on what these players can do.

Ryan Graves picked up an assist and was a +2, highest +/- on either team in Val-d'Or's 8-5 win over Rouyn-Noranda tonight.

Start regretting it now because that is crazy talk . The thought of Drouin with Stamkos is scary.

I would take Drouin but Mantha outplayed him in the World Juniors which is probably the fairest way to evaluate top prospects head-to-head. I wouldn't be shocked to see both of those players be PPG in the NHL.

What I like about Duclair's PP production is that you're expect a fast player like him to be good on odd man rushes. Seems like he's well rounded.
