Although I really like your well thought-out list, I'm afraid the Panthers recent history goes more like this:

Definites: Nobody
Very probable: Could be anybody
Probable: Most everybody
Maybe: Well, somebody
Doubtful: Won't be nobody
Nope: Roberts

He's not a Martin guy. I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved at the deadline. I suspect he'd waive that NTC for a playoff run.

Here's TSN's link on Roberts and Bertuzzi being on the block:
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=10913&hubname=

I think we could see a firesale come the deadline if we are out of it, then next year focus on signing offensive players to surround the core of Jokinen-Weiss-Olesz-Horton and a goaltender. Our defense is pretty strong for years to come.

I agree with most of what is being said, however I think the Panthers may work from the net out. This may mean actually trying to attract a true number one goalie, and not a quick fix to a problem like signing Belfour to another year. Whether this be aggressively persuing a top goalie like Toskala or Nabokov from San Jose, or Gigure or Bryzgalov from Anaheim.

While the Panthers have strong defensemen in Bouwmeester and Van Ryn picking up a solid FA like Timmonen in the off-season could do wonders. Additionally, there are going to be some teams that will have to make some tough decisions regarding player personal, and Florida is not a bad choice considering that despite all of the ups and downs of this season we are still in the hunt of a playoff spot.

Thus, even if we move Gratton, Gelinas, Roberts and Bertuzzi we should be able to get some good prospects and core players that will help us out in the long run, instead of going for the quick patch fix. This may not necessarily be a popular move, but it is a move that if done right can have excellent results.

I think Bertuzzi will be back for sure. If he is traded for some weak prospects or lost to free agency, the Luongo deal will look like Martin's fault. Especially if Bert goes off an scores 40 goals next season. Plus, he can't be that expensive to resign considering his stock is at an all time low. How can this not be a gimmick?

No, he signed a 2 year deal with Olli last season. His contract is with a NTC through 07-08.

I dont see Bertuzzi being traded, that would make the deal look horrible imo, the only way Bertuzzi is traded is if Sexton cant come to an agreement with Berts agent on a new contract, but i hope that wont be the case

Does it really matter how the deal looks? You do whats best for the team moving forward. If Bertuzzi isn't signed at the deadline, he should be traded IMO. Hopefully he plays well in his short time back before the deadline so we can get some value for him.

Not really. JayBo is untouchable. Franchise defensemen don't grow on trees. Besides, he is one of the few bright spots of an otherwise dismal season.

No we cannot afford to lose Bouwmeester at this point, even for guys like Schremp and Lupul. We have ZERO top defensive prospects, especially two-way D-men like Bouwmeester has finally developed into. IMO he's more valuable to the franchise than any of those guys.

JM did not make the Bertuzzi-Luongo deal, in fact he tried to prevent it by going straight to RL in a last ditch effort. Keenan pulled that trigger and when all the facts came to light, Keenan got fired for that deal. It really set this team back in a big way to trade a top 2-3 goalie in the league for Bertuzzi who came with lots of baggage. As many predicted, I believe Keenan destroyed this franchise for the next few years.
In Jacques, I trust though...

Hmm...for Jason Smith, Joffrey Lupul, Andrew Cogliano, and a 1st rounder I would be sorely tempted to give up JBo and Bertuzzi. Not 100% - as mentioned there's a lack of replacement for Bouw - but sorely tempted nonetheless.

just want you to know you listed the entire team and only 2 of them wer negative. "cleaning the house" means typically 3-6 players would stay.

The guys with contracts next season would probably be the ones definitely coming back (baring trades):

Jokinen
Gratton
Olesz
Booth
Campbell
Salei
Bouwmeester
Van Ryn
Mezei

On that list above, only maybe Gratton, Salei and Jokinen "could" get traded (Gratton not living up to his contract, Salei has played so well that his value can't get any higher and Jokinen because he holds the most value in a trade) if you're willing to truly clean house. Guys like Booth & Campbell are cheap bottom line players so it makes sense to retain them. Other than those mentioned, just Weiss & Allen should return (with the assumption that Horton is also going to get traded due to contract demands and the desire to leave). That's 8 returning players and that should blow it up significantly enough for you to get the #1 pick the following season.

I have only five people as being certain to return. Anyone else may be moved. I don't understand your point.

Incidentally I have 7 of the 20 players on the roster as "maybe"s. If even half of those go, thats six of twenty players gone. I can't see more than that going.
