Brass' been good for us lately. Hope he keeps it going.

But poor Carcillo only got 5:49 of icetime today.. very very little :/

Moore and Boyle had 9:16 and 10:29 respectively.

I think Dorsett is the better player, but I also think that the difference between the two isn't as big as most of us want it to be.

Carcillo is likely (unfortunately) a better use of cap dollars.

AV not changing chemistry with team playing well, especially with 4th line scoring goals

Nope.

Carcillo is a ****awful hockey player. He's riding the new team adrenaline. He'll regress to his usual useless self inside a month.

Why is it that every single season it seems that all the talking heads who have a microphone and an ampliifer talk about the Islanders being such a good, improving team with promise.

Yet, they always come up short. Don't team points tell a better story?
I'm not even picking on the Islanders. I am just pointing out a fact. Wouldn't it be better for the hockey experts to cast the Islanders as lovable losers instead, after all it is more realistic.

I don't really get the votes for Brass though. He didn't have a bad game per se, but he didn't really have a good one either. He seemed to have a lot of trouble controlling the puck on his stick. Yeah, he scored the goal, but that was a perfect pass by Staal and Stralman had Nabokov screened. If Brass had screwed that up, it would have been egregious.
Brassard had like 8-9 shots, and while he wasn't perfect, especially that early penalty, he played a strong game. I think having the problem of not being able to nail down the three stars because so many guys played well is a great issue to have ! Lol
Girardi had a strong game for sure. Staal of course was beasting all over tha dam place. Zucc was a whirling dervish . Nash was a force. Stepan is starting to quietly roar back
Henrik muddafuggen Lundqvist has been sharp as a laser lately , and that is some good news for us, and bad news for the rest of the NHL.
Kreider has been impressive even when not scoring, and actually seems to know what to do without the puck now! That guy is a monster.
Poop has fallen back to what he is.
Dominic Moore is the perfect 4th liner/pk guy.
Boyle has looked a Lot more physically engaged lately! Can't wait for his annual post-season hulk on.
Stralman has been Klein.
Klein has been Stralman.
John Moore looks like a hockey player now that the albatross MDZ has been taken from around his neck.
Carrillo has been somewhat useful, but I think I like Dorsett better, and he was sorely missed this week , what with Okposo being around and all that lol.
McDonagh is McDonagh is McDonagh.
Richards? Gosh I really wish we didn't have to buy him out
Hagelin ? His flow is slow and has been a no go. I expect him to pick it up. He hasn't been bad, but I think he can be better.
Forgetting anyone?
Oh.
Right.
Callahan ...
Hmmm. What have you done for me lately ?
I hope we can get an asset for him.

That warrants a suspension. He is clearly out to injure Hags with that blatant 2 hand slash.

Very fun game to watch tonight. A few thoughts:

* A lot of vinegar in this one. I guess 3 meetings in 11 days will do that. Great to see Staal and Kreider mixing it up with the Islanders. Kreider came out of the box like a bat out of hell. Circled the offensive zone.

* Lundqvist is officially back, if he wasn't yet. I can't remember the last time I held my breath when the puck was around his net. Seems like his struggles were forever ago.

* Loved AV coming right back with the 1st line after the go-ahead goal. Kept the pedal to the metal. This team doesn't go for the throat often enough.

* Brassard's celebration. He was amped. Great game for him.

* The pats on the bench. Hagelin after the slash. Boyle after blocking that big shot. They came together tonight on this one.

Well obviously I'm not being entirely serious about benching Callahan first. I am however, not all that happy with his performance lately, nor his entire line

Don't hate to say it….but the Rangers are playing well. Henrik was outstanding tonight. Staal, Girardi and McDonagh as well. Stralman a +3.

The Rangers having set lines is making them a lot more effective offensively and defensively. Players know where their line mates are. Even the 4th line is producing lately.

Klein has helped stabilize the defense. I don't look at our third pairing as a catastrophe waiting to happen anymore.

The Rangers have 10 guys now on the + side of the ledger and Stralman at even for the season--with Callahan, Boyle, Dominic Moore and Staal swinging back in the right direction. If the team continues playing like it has been they'll be +'s too. At the 40 game mark the Rangers only had one player who had a positive +/-.

Its not so much that they are individually playing badly or not showing effort. Its that the line is terribly constructed.

Nash had a monster game. He's had nice #fancystats like that the past few weeks. Tonight was just dominance.

Staal was dominant again, he looks confident and is decisive with the puck. Once the Rangers get their **** figured out with this year's impending UFAs, they need to start discussing an extension. I hope he wants to remain a Ranger - having two elite defensemen in Staal and McDonagh makes such a difference.

Hank was great - bailed us out numerous times. The PK was HORRENDOUS tonight. They kept getting pinned and couldn't clear the puck at all.

Cally looked off, I think the negotiations/trade rumors are weighing on him. He wasn't blocking shots or forechecking hard, which I would usually get pissed about but am fine with it now because it lessens his chance of getting injured. The 3rd goal notwithstanding, I feel like his line with Beaver and Hags is the weakest line - they scramble around in their own zone and are unable to sustain possession offensively.

Not many things make me happier to see Marc Staal regaining his old form. To have him as a 3/4th d man is beyond huge, especially during tough road games when you can't always match up mcd against the top pairings.

Klein trade def not a bad one. Don't cringe now when I see Moore on ice like I did when he was with del zotto.
