What happened in December?

So the 2-6 start is understandable. But we bounced back nicely and won 6 out of 7 at one point and had the longest streak of allowing 2 or fewer goals in decades I believe. Lundqvist bounced back, so did the D and the O. Then we have the longest home stand in our history these are our results:

4-3 OTL NJ: Average team, we blew a 2-0 lead and only got a point because we scored with the goalie pulled

4-1 L Washington: They weren't that bad then, but still mediocre at best

4-1 L Nashville: Mediocre team and they scored 4, while not being a good offensive team

4-2 L Columbus: Decent team now, but they weren't that great at the time, nothing special anyway

4-3 SOW Calgary: Had to come back from an early 2-0 deficit and I believe late 3-2 deficit against one of the worst teams in the league to win in a skill competition

4-3 OTL Pittsburgh: I'll give them credit, despite all of the injuries they're always a tough out, still decimated by injuries and it took a miracle for us to tie it

5-3 L New York Islanders: Always play us tough, better than their record IMO, but they were **** when we played them

Then we went back to playing well. What happened?

They weren't playing "well" after 2-6 they just ran into beatable teams as opposed to ANA who's like a billion and one at home now an such. while still working out chemistry, jet lag, road trip fatigue, blah blah blah.

What a mystery.

Interpol should be brought in to help with this case.

Or it could be that sometimes teams are hot and sometimes they are cold.

Yeah but they looked ridiculously awful. They didn't look just "cold". They looked like they forgot how to play hockey.

Eh, maybe they weren't as good as their wins during that stretch showed but they did beat the Penguins 5-1, injuries or not that's always a tough out. They also outplayed most of the teams they played, including the same Ducks although at home. (Though I was at the game and didn't they played all that well against the Ducks, they were IMO the better team).
