2nd rounder=Cliche.

Pretty much thats what we paid.

Best of luck J Ward, I liked that guy, even if he was unspectacular.

Oh man Avery and Hollweg on the same line...let's see if it happens. Trade for Tucker and it will be the most hated line.

Marek, so be it...he was a throw in on any trade...

but Cliche hurts...not only because he really has a shot at the NHL, he's the guy we traded down to grab when the Rangers allowed Montreal to grab Latendresse...eh

LOVE IT... now we have at least TWO or three players who play tough and gritty... sweet... maybe they'll rub off...

IMO, this is a solid deal for us. I have doubts that Cliche (even though I loved the kid as a Rangers prospect) ever becomes a player the caliber of Avery, who is young as well. Marek was never going to sign with us and the Rangers really had no interest in inking him, IMO. Ward has been really bad this year.

Good deal.

Hmm pretty good deal, although i liked Cliche, Ward was very ordinary bottom line player and Marek might not come to the NHL and its good we got a Legit NHL player for him.

Cliche showed that same type of heart and soul play that Callahan showed in the WJCs and that really translates to the NHL when you have the skillset (which I believe he does)...

MA Cliche in this deal really does hurt...

I was down on Cliche. He wasn't scoring well in a cake offensive league and let's face it. With Callahan stepping up huge in the AHL, Pyatt and Dupont stepping up big in the OHL and WHL, Cliche was expendable.

Avery will do it all for the Rangers, he turned his act down and started playing hockey, but now with his reputation, he gets called for EVERYTHING. He can get tripped and get called for diving and the other guy get nothing.

I'll be honest at this very moment I'm happy we got Sean Avery BUT not sure this is the move the team needed to make this season. To me this seems like more of a long term trade idea.

Do a search over at hockeyrodent.com. There's a bunch of (old) Marek stuff over there.

Could be good, BUT...

where is he going to find his minutes? He basically throws someone out of the lineup. He's ideally a third liner (goodbye Hossa, Hollweg, Ward or Ortmeyer - my guess is Ward sits, Hossa moves to the right of Betts and Avery to his left).

My real issue is how does he get his nearly 2 minutes of PP time? He averages 16:30 of ice time in LA - does he go to 14 as a Ranger?
