The Rangers have a far better mix of forwards than the Kings do. Outside of Cammalleri, Frolov and Kopitar, not enough guys can do enough that Avery shouldn't have gotten his cut of PP time.

because you need to give them something for avery...and honestly, we have a lot of players that are going to be coming into hartford anyway. so i felt they had room to lose a prospect or two. honestly, the best we could have hoped for.

Ugh, I hate this trade for you guys. First, Avery's a little punk that will destroy your locker room unless Shanny sucker punches him a few times and Cliche, I was really impressed with this kid in the WJC's. Also, I really like Ward as a Hab, will be said to see him go to another conference.

With the call up of Janssen by NJ today, this just makes the division all that much more fun. Loving it.

Cliche sure isn't putting super offensive numbers in a high offensive league like he did last year. But missing action due to injury and the World Juniors. Have you looked at the Maineiacs scoring as a team. They have guys with 59, 2 guys w/ 48 points, 47, 45, and 2 guys with 41 points. This team doesn't have one or two go to guys like other teams in the Q.

One bad part of this trade is that if the Refs had a bias against us before, it's only going to get worse!

From a few Kings fans, I had heard that Avery had kinds put things together in the personality department..Was having a good year except for a 10 game strecth where the Kings tanked recently..

Exactly my first thought.

I happen to love Avery, but the Refs are going to make it hell on Ranger fans. It really isn't fair to us.

Well lets hope this adds some fire to the Rangers and makes teams take the Rangers a little more seriously in the physicallity department. I liked Ward but this isnt a major deal to me. But this move should make for a intresting Rangers/Devils game tomorrow.

This trade is quite unexpected. Overall I think it may be a good thing, he's defiently has made some comments in the past (racial ones at that) which make me wonder how good he's going to be for us off the ice. On the ice we could use a player like him. It's going to be intersting, especially since we essentially just picked another 3 or 4th liner. More trades in the works?... Count on it!

yayyyyyyyyyyy

This deal is sick. Avery adds much needed grit and he can score as well. While he likes the game along the boards, he's not your proverbial grinder, he has skills and a shot, he can find openings and score as evidenced by last year's stats and his stats in juniors. This was really good for us.

Does...

Elisha Cuthbert come along with him? That wouldn't be a bad throw in.

Even for a few photos of Elisha Cuthbert has to do wonders for the lockerroom

I didn't realize how small Marek is--5'10" 178. I saw a pic of him and he looked bigger.

They have been very non-descriptive in explaining if he really suffered a concussion. Sure sounded like one, especially since he was complaining of "grogginess" but they had him listed w/a back/jaw injury.

1. Everyone hates Avery, but hopefully he's the kind of guy you can like when he's on your team. If he can cut down on his penalties than he's exactly what this team needs. He's tough, can hit, AND CAN PLAY CENTER. He's Hollweg with much more offensive talent.

2. He's only 26. He'll be around for a couple of years.

3. Last year and this year he's been scoring at about a half point per game rate. That's not that bad. He can chip in some offense from the bottom lines.

4. Losing Ward means nothing. He lost his spot on the team. Plus we signed him as a UFA so overall we don't lose much.

Only thing we give up basically is Cliche. But we have a ton of prospects like him (2nd to mid rounders with 3rd line NHL potential).

So overall I like the deal. We did give up a decent prospect, but at least it's for a player who's only 26. It certainly improves our team on the ice right now. If Avery can cut back a little on the dirty play etc. than this is a real good move.

He isn't being brought in to score goals. As many Kings fans have already said, the guy is a pretty good passer.
