Good for a young local guy to finally get his chance. Hopefully he is still the big puck moving defenseman i saw when i watched him during the world juniors.

Kurtis Foster

He was sitting on the bench when he got hit in the throat by a kim johnsson clearing attempt.

The guy has gotten hit in the head area twice in the past two weeks.

Can't wait to see Belle in the line-up next game, hopefully. I've been a big fan of his for about a year now.

Gosh, the Wild might need to change their name to the Aeros soon. It's too bad
they can't play AHL teams and have it count toward the NHL standings.

My take on Belle is that he is fast (like everyone has been saying) with "straight on speed". He seems to have no where near the agility of Johannson, but he's strong and likes to use the body. If he can move the puck up effectively then I don't see why he can't play as a regular.

I watched Shawn in the open preseason practice and I think he made it into one preseason game. He definitely wasn't reading the game very well back then. Luckily he's fast so some of the time he could compensate. However, the game is so much quicker at the NHL, that I think his callup is an interesting experiment.

From a cap standpoint, I don't think this is a smart idea at all. His salary is 985K according to the Strib. Why don't we just move Burns back to D where he is so much more effective and call up Voloshenko, Irmen or Pouliot?

I'm just assuming that they are gonna go ahead with the full conversion of Burns to the forward position. That's all I can make of this.

ya, with this move they are a mere 40K under the cap. Why they dont move burns back to d and call up a cheaper player just baffles me.

Seriously, I read that Tom Lynn quote, and I am still at a lost for words. Its like the answer is staring them right in the face, and they go do something else.

They must think Burns at forward gives them a better chance to win than a cheaper guy from the minors. Right? I mean, that's all it can be, especially if they've mentioned the possibility...

but its not like burns is on a scoring tear...he adds a physical presence yes, but you could get that from Joel Ward or someone else...

So how has belle looked so far? what's the general consensus? Sorry. out here in Australia. we get 2 hockey games a week. and that's across the whole league! Haven't seen a wild game in nearly 2 years!

Can someone give me an update? seems like his numbers never match his skill level. million dollar tools, 10 cent head?

Thanks!

He had one real stinker of a game a while back, but otherwise I like what I've seen - he's big and fast, and doesn't shy away from the physical stuff. He's prone to rookie mistakes, but boy what a toolbox this kid has. With time I think he'll be real good.

Is Belle any good? I thought he would be a nice defense prospect on the Stars but apperently our crappy GM thought it would be better to have Willie Mitchell for a little while until losing him as free agent ^^

Yup. He's playing much better this time. Last time he threw a couple of no-brain passes up the slot and had some pretty comical give-aways. This time he's looked much better or I should say I haven't noticed any dangerously stoopid plays. It's definitely a step forward in his development.

Wasn't that the game we lost like 2-3 d-men and he had to play extened minutes? If I remember correctly, he looked like ME out there...not pretty.

I know the only way he's gonna truly learn is by playing, but man, hopefully he can do it in like 8-12 minute increments and not 18-22.
