Says a CFL fan! There's plenty of time to do whatever before the Super Bowl anyways. Best possible match up you could hope for. 2 best teams from the regular seasons and the playoffs, #1 offence vs #1 defence... a plethora of story lines going in. Mothers and grandmothers who don't even care about football let alone the Super Bowl pay attention on this day.

By the way the Jets have really turned things around since bringing on Maurice. Pretty crazy. And WSH/DET is 5-5 in the 3rd, two teams that are really no threat in the scheme of the season having a zero defence goal for goal affair.

Man, Howard is having a rough year. He is usually a safe fantasy bet for wins.

I'm glad the Jets are having success. They are solid up and down the roster, they just haven't had the goaltending and chemistry.

It's just unfortunate that you can't enjoy the Superbowl for whatever reasons you have.

Seems like an awful return for Diaz. Bergevin got ripped off.

What is he really worth? A soft #5 d-man that doesn't really put up points and is a UFA making 1.2mil.

Not that Weise is anything special I just don't see what they could've really gotten. Especially since his name has been out there for so long. Have to think if they could've gotten more they would've.

In his last 69 games (this year and last), Diaz has 25 points. You'd think a 30 point dman who makes 1.2 million (dirt cheap come trade deadline) could get more than a 4th liner. He'd be a great depth guy to add going into the playoffs

Watching the Hawks/Kings game...

Is there any team the Kings fans won't chant against? "Hawks suck"? They have more Cups in the last 4 years than you have in the last 40.

From Howard Stern's Birthday Bash. Is that who I think it is (in the background)?

I hope they sat him next to Blue Iris.

phoenix is now one pts behind the nucks and dallas is two! We knew going into this year the nucks would not have cake walk to the playoffs like they did previously. But looking at there third and fourth line is almost as bad as the oilers. But LA is fading fast and are in need of a transplant or something

So are the Jets. I know, most of y'all hate them and all, but it's actually very interesting to look at. Mediocre at best goaltending, great defence (trouba, that mother****er), and some depth scoring gets you almost there.

oh, and they fired their inept coach.

From last night on That's Hockey 2

Kouleas: What do you think about Washington and Vancouver?

Button: Two teams that benefited from being in terrible divisions for years.

Late to the party, but good to see the main stream media finally picking up on what lots of us have been saying for years, mainly in regards to the Canucks. Too bad none of them dared to say it until now.

The Canucks were a high end team - anyone saying otherwise is just trying to stir up crap. I hate the Canucks but they were one of the league's best for a few years.

You don't get to G7 of the SCF by benefiting from being in a terrible division. The Canucks were a darn good hockey team a few years ago. They're starting to slow down, but let's not take away from what they were.

You get home ice advantage through the playoffs and a lot of easy nights by playing in a terrible division though. The Canucks were very good in 2011, but results in other seasons suggest their regular season record overrated them. Their first round record from 2010-2013 is a weak 9-13, despite having home ice advantage in every series. 5-10 when we exclude the 2011 campaign where they were legitimately very strong. 2012 was the poorest showing ever from a President's Trophy winner; they are the only winner ever that failed to win a home game in the playoffs.

Points-wise, they were only 5th in the West last year but got home ice advantage due to the seeding format. In a balanced schedule/non divisional format in 2010 the Canucks probably finish 7th in the West instead of 3rd.

This is the definition of benefiting from a weak division, exactly as Button stated.
