Does Zubov retire? I guarentee that will not be the lineup. There will be I think big changes by next season.

No I think he will be traded. With Daley being a less expensive and more physical and faster version of Zubovin the making, I think Zubov's salary will be dropped.

Alot depends on what happens this year.

On Offense:The team you project lacks size and grit especially on the lower lines. My guess is that Kapanen will not center a fourth line and will either br gone or traded as part of a package. Miets also would need to crack a top line to stick. My guess is that the lower lines will be reworked probably this year with size a factor. Unfortunately Europeans like Hagos , Erikkson, Jokinin or Polak look to be 2-3 years away.

Defense: Zubov either brings near ready prospects or somebody who can play right away. In all liklihood unless he brings you Lundmark and Tyutin or vermette and Vauclier or something similar he stays. Unlikely that Matty, Klemm, Sweeney all UFAs to be stay. Vagner starts in Utah.

A experienced back-up goalie will be obtained maybe this year.

But then you did not put in your lineup who your prediction will replace Zubov in a trade.

There are a bunch of good players on the trading block atm, whom we would have use of. Turgeons NTC is ended this year i believe, even if they have to eat some contract they wil move him. Zubov, Arnott and possibly Guerin will leave, and almost certainly all 4 will go if we dont make the playoffs. Hicks was adamant that it would be MAJOR changes if improvement is not made, meaning making the playoffs, and most likely going at least a round or 2 (almost impossible if we are 8th facing Detriot or Col, with their home advantage)

What do you think the line-up will look like?

I think:
Morrow-Modano-Guerin(He may go but hard cause of his contract)
Lehtinen-Barnes-Lang/Satan/Bondra
Ott-Kapanen-Tjarnqvist
Downey-Miettinen-Oliver

Boucher-Zubov(Same as Guerin)
Matvichuk-Daley
Klemm- Maybe Vagner (Sweeney and/or Erskine will go)

Hopefully we get some good young players in the trades to replace some of the ones mentioned above, cause the team above is an slightly above average team at best, and quite small. I don't like the fact that Arnott would be traded, only cause he is our only big forward, but he is likely the one we would get the most return for cause of contract, combined with talent/size.

I am not worried about losing Arnott's size because he never uses it. He is the biggest wuss of a 6'4 forward in the league. He could be a Bertuzzi like forward if he would just play more physical.

No he does use it on occassion, just not consistantly. Your right about Bertuzzi comparison, Arnott has top notch skills. However, we would get pushed around a lot more than we do without Arnott. Hopefully we can trade for a big young forward, like a Antropov or Pyatt.

Trading Zubov would automaticly make this team a non-contender. Stupid idea, you don't trade an elite defenseman, much less since he is everything our D isn't. And please, Daley isn't ready to take over his role yet, not by a long shot.

Jokinin is younger and has less skins than Miets . I would suggest he needs AHL time. Hagos because of size has a chance. Those last two lines are tiny. Jancevski or Erskine probably not both and no way Smith stays the backup

Would someone be kind enough to explain to me what has gone wrong with Niko Kapanen's game? Which is the real Niko Kapanen: This season or last season? What do you think his future outlook is?

Any constructive information would be appreciated.

Bacashihua isn't playing all that well this year. His Utah stats aren't impressing to many people these days. He is with the Stars right now as a back-up, but I think it's because the Stars wanna see how Mike Smith and Dan Ellis play at the Utah level. Jason has not really impressed so he may not be back-up for a while. Smith and even Ellis have jumped ahead of him in that area. Kinda surprising.

Also, don't forget about Tobias Stephan. The kid was playing some amazing hockey until he was injured(hip surgery). His year is over so that was a blow to him and the Stars organization in someways. Still, if he can recover and regain the form he had this year, he could easily be on the radar screen soon enough

I think it is questionable as to whether he will even be here next year
