Here is my question, if Stamkos is left off, is it St. Louis or Giroux? I think those are the top 2 targets and both provide a lot of support and neither are Stamkos.
Apparently Giroux isn't even on the reserve list.

I'm kind of getting sick of people crying about Giroux not being on the team already & it's only been a month, I don't think I can take a full year of it so I hope he makes it.

Really?

Then he's definitely not going.

People are allowed to be mad about it. You could make a serious case that Giroux was snubbed. I'm not sure Giroux will even be considered if Stamkos can't go. It's pretty clear that HC has a plan to the team that they want in Sochi, and Giroux doesn't fit the mold for the guy they want. The only guy I think he can potentially replace would be Duchene. Based on talent alone though, Giroux should have been a lock.

It's Canada, good/great players are left off the roster every go around. Giroux should have been there in my opinion but it's not some great travesty as to why he's not.

That's not what Yzerman said...Yzerman said that Giroux would probably be 1st on the list if another player couldn't make Sochi.

I watched most of the interviews during the announcements and don't recall him saying that. He gave very political answers.

I was listening to The Herd today on espn radio and apparently there are journalists complaining that their hotels don't have clean water or heaters.

I just really hope that's the worst of it. I hope these athletes are safe

If it's any consolation, Yzerman said Giroux will be a player high on Canada's injury-replacement list.

Claude Giroux is a very good player. In the event of an injury, he’s a guy.

I still think this is all because of Crosby...wouldn't be surprised if Stammer can't go and Neal gets called up..than we know.

A guy. Not the guy.

Like I said, he gave a very political answer.

I honestly wouldn't doubt it, the Russians totally botched this one & made themselves look idiots in all different types of ways during this whole thing.

I heard an interview a week ago from the mayor of Sochi, the guy sounded like a real bozo & didn't really help their image too much.

I'm surprised they made the decision this quickly, I figured they would wait until they possibly couldn't anymore. Good news for Lightning fans though.

I think MSL will get the call apparently him, Hall, & Staal were told to be on stand-by in case of an injury.

I still doubt Giroux is going.

Which is laughable, but whatever.

I wonder if Giroux/St. Louis still get passed over for someone who is thought of as a goal scorer instead of a passer.

Hall, Neal, Staal...

Canada apparently hasn't been in contact with Neal nor Giroux. Posters on the Olympics forum are citing TSN radio in Edmonton? reported this but I don't know if they're just taking the list Glen Healy was babbling about over the weekend.

Has to be Giroux or St.louis. They both deserve it. Just for the love of god don't pick Neal.

Eric's not really a goal scorer anymore. He has less than Giroux.

I still find it kind of fascinating how close Stamkos probably was to going to Sochi considering how serious that injury was (is)

Also, if Neal gets the call, there is zero chance I will watch any NBC feed. I can't stand the combination of Neal's name and Emrick's voice
