Always funny to see the "negative value" of our first offensive center....

If our first offensive center don't got any kind of value on the market and the others do....so get rid of the guys that got value in order to keep those with negative value. Winning combination right there.

I would trade DD for about anything. I don't really care about the return....putting Galchenyuk at his place would be a huge improvement in size, skills and grit.

We have way too small wingers down the pipe like Hudon, Andrighetto, Thomas, Leblanc, Collberg, Lehkonen, Reway...plus Gallagher.....and we're gonna keep the smallest center in the NHL to play with them???

For me Galchenyuk - Plekanec -Eller will provide size, talent, grit, depth, speed and 2-way upsides....and 3 centers that will be able to play with smaller winger if needed.

Once Galchenyuk take his spot....DD is out..both need the same kind of ice-time, the same kind of linesmate
But since this is Montreal...Eller might get traded!

DD is the odd man. Not good enough to be a Top 6, not gritty enough to be a Bottom 6 on a top tier team. Eller can at least be a gritty Bottom 6

Obviously DD SHOULD be the odd man out here.. but chances of that happening are slim..

Either Eller goes full time winger or finds himself a way out of town

Plekanec should stay, when he'll get older, he can be converted to a checking line center.

Galchenyuk is our future #1 center.

Long term
XXX-Galchenyuk-Gallagher
Pacioretty-DD-XXX
XXX-Plekanec-XXX

The only thing that DD has proven is that he can be a 50 pts player in a first center role, with our best winger, so he is not that good. For how long do you want our first center getting 50 pts? Is that the new standards for a 1st line center for Habs fans now? I know weve been losers for 20 years but its kinda sad that some fans are satisfied that our first center gets around 50 pts.

No one will get traded... until they make sure Galchenyuk would be more useful at centre than on the wing.

And that can happen next year...or the year after...or never.

He is far from being a bonafide #1 centre, we all agree about that... But who is the #1 point getter on our team this year ? A D-man. So, there is lots of work to be done to improve the offensive side of thsi team. A lot of work. And DD is just part of the problem. Not the whole problem.

Not sure as we have never seen our good centers with good wingers, only the mediocre centers.

I chose Plekanec, but not because I want him gone; he's simply a greater value on the trade market than DD and much easier to move. And I don't want to trade Eller, so...

Eller for Myers would be a good basis. I would really like Myers here in MTL. Could he play on a pairing with Subban ?

Not a ****ing chance Buffalo moves Myers for Eller

Buffalo will be fine down the middle when they draft Reinhart.

The problem is that these four players are four of our better players with Pacioretty and Gallagher.

The problem this team has is wingers. We have two great ones and a bunch of horrid ones.

We have one very good centre, two decent centres, and one top prospect centre.

Eller and Desharnais are both way too inconsistent for my liking and Plekanec has never been given the chance, long-term, with some good talent.

LOL. That "logic" exposes the DD apologists' untenable position: They, MT and MB know that DD is a very good hockey player; but the league's other 29 GMs just can't see the undrafted midget's value.

Lol @ those who want to trade Eller. This thread should be bumped a few games into the playoffs.

Both Eller and Desharnais should be trade in the next 1 to 4 years. Eller in a package deal for a top 6 winger and Desharnais for a 2nd round pick when Galchenyuk will be ready to be a 50 + points center.

We have been trying to shoehorn rookies in their non-drafted position/side for the last 15 years, let alone the ones that actually make it to the NHL.

How is Galchenyuk ever going to be ready for centerman duties if he doesn't play center?

He isn't magically going to learn to be better at face-offs without taking them.
He isn't magically going to be able to be consistent in his defensive assignments and break out patterns as a center if he's playing the wing.
