Glad the Flames got him signed to his ELC.

Okay prospect for the Flames. Possible third line material here. Little disappointed that he didn't make the world junior team. Still a lot of maturing and developing for him.

Near elite production, definitely tops out as a 3rd liner.

4G night. (6minutes left)

Poirier is always around the net.. I would say 1/3 of his penalties are goaltender interference calls. Love it!

It's juniors for god sakes. Until he proves otherwise I'm sticking to what I said. A good third liner.

Game over.

Poirier finishes the night with 4G. He also has reached last years point total in 17 fewer games.

How did you base his potential as a third liner?

Has speed and not afraid to get his nose dirty. Will be a top PK killer.

Fair enough.

I see a little Alex Burrows / Brad Marchand in his play... Both can kill penalties and use their speed and grit to their advantage.

Right, but you're probably not weighing his offensive skills as much. There are a lot of aspects in his game that are translatable to the NHL, not just his speed and grit. Ie wrist shot, vision. I agree with your past statement he needs to work on his discipline, which can be taught in the AHL and the NHL.

Could be our Alex Burrows, can produce at the top line given great linemates.

I'd say he's a safe bet to be at least a more offensive minded Hansen. However I have his floor at 4th/3rd liner, and his ceiling at a average 2nd liner someone who could get you ~20 goals, and ~45 points....A VERY VERY valuable player... the kind you win with imo. You got a good one Calgary, wasen't at all surprised he was taken were he was. I wanted him on Vancouver....and now he'll haunt me for the next 10 years or so

potentially a good gritty 2nd line winger. maybe like glencross or a bigger gallagher.

Poirier really reminds me of Brad Marchand. I don't think anyone would complain about a 20+ goal, 50 point winger with incredible speed to burn and being able to play both ends of the ice. Someone said third line winger, but I think Poirier could eventually be a top line option and not look out of place.
