I wonder if he would be willing to come to camp without a contract signed and when pronger goes on LTIR we sign him to a deal. This could give us some extra cap room to work with in the offseason. Or would the NHL think this is cap circumvention of some kind?
Timonen would have to take a cut down to about 4 million to come back I would say. It would probably be around 5 million though, they have to much respect for the guy to let him leave for a little amount of money since he goes to war for us every day of his life.
If he does come aback with us though, we will be making trades. We wouldn't have any salary left(barely, just around 3-4 million) for a back up goalie and third liner.
Grossmann might be the odd one out.
We should try to find a team close to the cap floor for 2015 year. Pronger after next year is all the way down in the 500K mark for salary, just hold that money and let the other team pick up the cap hit. Similar to what Boston did, but we just retain he actual salary.
