Cullen played awesome against the Habs. I thought he was one of our best players in that series along with Staal/Brind'amour/CWard.

I don't think he "choked" or "disappeared" after that, but rather that he simply played like he did the entire regular season: a couple weeks of inspired play, then month(s) of nothing.

Cullen is a nice player and that's it. Certainly not worth anywhere near what he's being paid and I don't fault JR at all for not re-signing him at that price when we had significantly more important players to deal with.

We won the Cup with 15 impending free agents (ten unrestricted). Obviously some were going to have to leave, but JR still kept 10 and IMO didn't overpay a single one of them. Staal's deal could end up being a bit on the high side if he doesn't improve over the next couple seasons, but right now he's making $4M and is on pace for 70 points.
