no thanks! Mr. Broken Foot UFA to be? And the sheer likelihood of this team turning the ship around in time to make the playoffs? (you know they'll get it going like at the end of the month, go on a tear, and just miss the playoffs by 3 points). Although Chris Drury is my #1 target next summer, the idea of having Tucker, Avery, and Hollweg all on the same time is somewhat amusing.
BTW, good call with Drury this offseason n8... Him or Gomez should be our #1 Priority... Having Hollweg, Tucker and Avery on one team would no doubt give me two of the most penalized teams to root for (Rangers and Raiders)
If say u can get a contract extension completed before the trade. What do you think is a fair deal for him? Obviously by him being a FA, the demand from Toronto can't be as high.
Personally, if we can trade for him and have him signed without having to deal with other teams fighting for his services in the offseason. That would make it a huge plus. We could possibly save money on his extension too. That's if he's willing to sign and doesn't mind not testing the FA market (which i seriously doubt).
YOUNG SCORERS/SNIPERS... Prucha WOULD fall under this category if Renny pulled his head out of his azz and put Pruchs on Jagrs line!!! How many friggen goals did we see last year when prucha was in the right position with Jags feeding him a slam dunk??? JUST GIMME ONE SHIFT TOM!!!
Still though, I'd prefer a true first line center like Briere and move Nylander down to play 2nd line center with Shanny.
At that, I'll add that people get too caught up in line numbers. Even if you get Briere, stick him on the 2nd line. The icetime isn't going to be any different because he'll be playing equal ES minutes in addition to first line PP.
Your going to run into cap issues i think. Drury is going to cost 5-6 million. Tucker is an UFA and will cost 3-4 probably. I think the rangers need a top D-man before another forward. Some quality depth forwards would also be valuable.
