Could put down a lot of names for many of these categories, but I'll try and get as many people mentioned as possible.

Most Valuable Poster: montreal - always seems to have the information about what's going on with our players/prospects, we'd all be a fair bit more clueless around here without him
Most Offensive Poster (spends all his time attacking): half the board around here after a loss
Most Defensive Poster (spends all his time defending): 417 - defends players all round HFBoards, nice to see someone stick up for all the members of the team
Lady Byng (most peaceful Habs poster): Tricolore#20 - can diffuse arguements nicely while still getting a good point across
Most peaceful outsider: Transported Upstater - always seems to join in the fun without causing upset
Best avatar: 22stevebegin22 HM: znk, #11SakuKoivu
Best import (best foreign poster): #11SakuKoivu (sakuuuuu) - nice easy one as about 98% of people here are from somewhere foreign to me
Most Knowledgable Poster: Blind Guardian - don't really need to say why
Calder (Best rookie poster registered in 2006): hototogisu - always seems to have interesting or informative posts
Best veteran poster (registered in 2003): Mike8
Most overrated poster: looking at some of the nominations here, perhaps me cheers though guys
Most underrated poster: benji - knows the game and provides insightful comments. I think it's also him who likes Liquid Tension Experiment, so bonus points for that HM - Hackett
Most improved poster: not really sure, to be honest
Most hilarious poster: mcphee - whether it's anecdotes about Habs legends or what's going on in the world of his goats, can always post something amusing
Best Overall Poster: mcphee - gives informative views on the current team and past teams, great all round contribution

As mentioned, there are lots of other people who deserve a mention here, you (probably don't) know who you are so if you're reading this, chances are I'm talking about you. Besides, it all makes for an interesting online community.

I vote Gros Bill for all awards......good and bad!

...except rookie of the year. Bill hasn't been eligible to win ANY rookie type awards since the mid-50's!!!!!!!!

I think he was honored for being the Viagra test patient. Didn't work out, but hey, as we're seeing, you can't get up for every game.

Bill's sex life and the habs season are scarily similar!!!!

....actually Bill's sex life and Montreal Canadiens success have been closely tied for a long time.

Between the year of 1956-1979 (when the habs enjoyed their greatest successes), Bill was, um, how do I put this....um, doing quite well for himself.

Then in the 80's, Bill hit a bit of a slid, enjoying brief successes, but it was a decade, in which Bill couldn't live up to his past histroy.

After 1993, Bill had his worst slump in histroy. It was during this period Bill was tagged with the nickname Charmin Ultra Soft because he was now even uh....softer than ever before!

Now in 2007 with a fist full of drugs at his side, Bill is on the rebound. In no way, shape of form, is he the Bill of the 56-79 streak, but then again, how many of us have ever been on a steak like that!!!! Heck most years I'm happy as can be if I can just avoid too many 10 game losing streaks (heck I'm happy if I can get my gf to take a couple holding the stick penalties.....if ya know what I mean!!!)

It was more than mere performance . He had certain hygiene issues, [probably considered the word a form of salutation] that repulsed the opposite sex. In fact, no one would attempt to 'Squeeze the Charmin'.

Damn...I see i've been nominated for most defensive poster quite a few times? Seems like a backhanded compliment

Hey it's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it.

I'll keep defending Habs players/posters as long as I've got fingers to keep typing.

Here's a pic of Bill during that unfortunate time.......as you can see he was reduced to sqeezing his own Charmin..

While I'm pleased that somebody FINALLY spelled my username wrong after an early blitz of bizarrely-correct spellings (which thankfully seems to have spawned a more proper trend of subsequent misspellings)... I have to be disappointed at getting the Byng. That's the trophy nobody wants to win, right? I've been trying to be snarky and obnoxious for the past month or so. Doh. Gotta dig a little deeper I guess. (And thus, for the Byng insult, I'm not putting you on my list Renholder!!! )

I like the way mcphee did his list. I guess that's why he's the hall-of-famer. And I know if I tried to make a serious list by categories, I'd miss at least half the names I should mention. (The other half are unjustly on my notorious ignore list, of course).

Anyway, while I usually pick mcphee in all polls, contests, elections for world leaders, etc, he has basically transcended popularity polls like this now. Same with montreal for overall knowledge and levelheadedness. I think those two belong in something like a permanent MVP builders category of their own.

So I'll award my MVP for this season to habfan4... amongst the many deserving candidates, Python references always tip the balance.

I have avatars turned off most of the time so I can be a bit more stealthy at work, so I don't know who has the best one these days. I liked the many faces of Gainey (22SteveBegin22) and the bald Theo for sure. But I don't really associate names with avatars much these days, alas.

Gros Bill, Darz, lilooet are traditional favourites and I miss Brisebois to round out that fab four.

Guys I find myself agreeing with so much that it kind of frightens me are davedave, Hackett and Munchausen. And Brock on the prospects board (although I don't even know what team board he belongs to). I could pick any of you for MVP, but in some way it would feel kind of immodest.

For pure depth and detail of insight Mike8 and Qui Gon Dave have the awards uncontested. If I ever lose my cable, I'm pretty sure I could just read their game reports and descriptions and actually end up with a BETTER picture of what happened than I get from watching the games.

There are a number of posters that I wish would post more, benji, Stone Cutter, Carbo N8, Istvan, that group of rowdy Poutiners who seem to have surreptitiously started their own breakaway board hidden in the dark echoing caverns of Carolina's... but who really ought to be around here more often. AymanD and Artie why hast thou forsaken us?

Umm, I dunno, maybe if I ramble on long enough, people won't read this far and can just assume I've mentioned them, because I really meant to, and it's hard to dredge up all the names that need to be covered in a group as large and varied as this one. Whitesnake, turnbuckle, thief50, Tlusty - you clown - esp. on the prospects thread but of course elsewhere too, #11SakuKoivu, Quiet Robert, 417, Netro, Le Tricolore, Tuggy, Guy Caballero, GermanyMontrealExpat lots and lots of quality all around...

Actually, it's kind of a good cathartic exercise to reflect on all the great posters here, especially in these days of panic-stricken and bandwagon-themed threads popping up so frequently. Helps keep things in perspective. So keep up the good work all I've named and all I haven't but should have...

Even in congratulating people, you keep surpassing yourself....Just a great poster to read BG.

I'm glad my freezing off my ass in an arena watching our future, in the middle of the summer, didn't go unnoticed....

Aha, but what I failed to mention is that I interpret "MVP" as "Most Vapid Poseur"!

That said... no hard liquor before 11? Jeez, it's a really good thing this catharsis thread was created then, because I was up to four shots of JD each morning before daring to open the browser and read the latest caterwauling from the panic-mongers.

That would be a great Canadian tv show. It wouldn't be on par with The Littlest Hobo [my daughter called this show The Helping Dog, a fact I mention in front of her friends to subject her to ridicule], but it has potential.

I once wanted to emulate London, the star of the above show, but I'm not as agile, nor as clever.

Jack Daniels?

Well there goes my idealized vision of you as an urbane gentleman. I always felt you had the air of a chap who had a Cognac/Armagnac palate (or perhaps Gin) but never Bourbon. My day is well and truly shattered.

Even when I use a mason jar, I do lift my pinky, though. Something genetic about that, I guess.
