I see where you're coming from, but then again didn't we try Rucchin on the 2nd line here and it didn't work at all? I mean, I don't know I guess it depends on the kind of team you play on and how well you can play with your linemates.

If anything I like Avery on the top line because he could be out there to protect Jagr.

So now Avery is our #1 Center. Wow Life is good for this guy...lol

It would keep Nylander and Jagr from endlessley passing the puck to each other but is they don't score a hattrick in the 1st period Renny will dismantle the line pronto

The SAG line? Lol sagging in the middle

Just something to keep in mind for all of us.
Tell me about it. A big reason for why I go nuts when people bring up stats defenite proof of how good a player is.

Still, I kind of like Samsonov. Its not someone who I have seen a ton off, and don't really got a picture of his workethic is ect. But he is really creative, not just flashy or skilled, but got a good head for a russian in the attacking zone.

A bum is that he is a 78', thought he were younger, does time flys or what?

I don't think his contract is a defenite no-go. 3.5 is nothing these days, or if you are paying someone 3.5 he better contribute, its not that, but if we for example this offseason are looking to get someone who can really contribute on a top 2 line, and there are no Straka/Rucnisky/Nylander steals out there to make, we will defenitly have to pay around 5m per for 4 years for a decent player, look at what guys like Zhamnov/Savard and co. got. Looking at it from that perspective two years and 3m is not much.

My biggest concern when it comes to him is of course his size and questionable defense, I don't think he would be a good fit with Nylander for example.

Though at the same time, next season, I do think he could help out a Dubinsky allot. And I defenitly belive he would be a better fit with Shanahan then Marcel Hossa is....

He didn't pay center in Boston, and neiter did actually Nylander. He mostly played wing for both Chicago and Boston, I wonder if he weren't a wing with JJ too in Washington, though I am not sure, but I just got this picture back in my head were Kip Miller centered a line with JJ and Nylander.

A soft European perimeter player coming with a $3,5 mill cap hit. He would drive all of you guys crazy after 5 games.

No thanks

Samsonov never skated a shift as a center in Boston. Strictly a wing. Since his wrist injury in the fall of 2002 he has had a myriad of problems--one of the biggest was actually crappy centermen and rotating linemates.
In the 2004 playoffs he was at a PPG with Nylander as his center. Personally, I think Sammy's headed to Chicago but he was pretty impressive with Nylander so it could possibly work out for the Rangers if Samsonov actually has full health and motivation.

Avery - Straka - Jagr
Samsonov - Nylander - Shanny
Prucha - Cullen - Ortmeyer
Hollweg - Betts - Hossa

I don't think there are any viable options out there to solve our 2nd line center problem, so why not take a FREE flyer on a player who used to be great and is still relatively young. I like those lines a lot.

Samsonov was one of my favorites when he entered the league... but his cap hit is too high for an injury prone winger who has struggled in recent years. Also, Prucha would get less playing time with Samsonov around. I say no to this one.

I think it's just a waiting game. The last place team overall gets to claim a guy on waiver, unless I believe they have already claimed a guy on waivers, in which case they would go behind all the teams that have not, IIRC. So if the Flyers were last overall, they could claim him, but after that, they would be last to claim the next guy... Is that right? Anyway, if nobody claims him for full price, he probably gets sent to the AHL. Once he is recalled, even if somebody traded for him, he would have to pass through again, I think. But the Habs would be on the hook for half his contract. So why claim him now when you can get him for half price in a few weeks? Would you pay 4 bucks for a cup of coffee if you could get it for 2? Judging by the # of Starbuck's popping up in my area, alot of people would. Bad example...

I'll pass.

At 3.5 mill, not only is he a ridiculous cap hit for someone who has declined so much in production, but he takes up a roster spot for Prucha and Dawes.

I agree, that help would have to be RW, D, C. Why would they wanna play their 3rd line LW 3.5 mil?

I don't know. I'm not a Cap fan. I have enough crappy hockey to watch with my own NYR team. (although, I admit A.O is very exciting!)

Samsonov & A.O just seems like it would make sense. I know Samsonov didn't crack the Russian team in the Olympics, So I have nothing to base it on but just a gut feeling!
