@RomulusNotNuma
@hockeysymposium @mparkatti Omark can play for any NHL team apparently and Oilers get the pick.

Apparently, Omark has to play 1 more NHL game with any team to reach the 15 game threshold and trigger the condition on the 6th round pick from Buffalo. That sounds wrong, but...

Obviously the solution is to claim Omark and play him another game before waiving him... Semi serious.

Makes sense. The only factors you're weighing are waiver fee vs. 6th round pick. I don't see how it could hurt.

If someone else doesn't claim him after, we're stuck with another contract as well. That'd currently put us at 49 contracts I think?

I read somewhere he just needs to play one more NHL game period to get that. So couldn't we pick him up, play him for 1 game and then send him to OKC and or release him to the KHL if that's what he wants?

49 is still less than 50, and he's a UFA after the season. Chances are deadline day will see us trade at least one or two players for draft picks anyway, so I wouldn't stress over the contract issue. We've seen with Abney how easy it is to throw in a player to remove his contract if it's necessary to get a deal done.

I don't think Mac T would do that he is a trading machine and would want to keep good relationships with Buffalo

Yeah I don't think MacT is interested in a screwjob for a measley 6th rounder.

Called this one. Basically a free tryout for him and the Sabres.

His trade value was zero, and is now confirmed for all Omarkians to see, as zero.

Perhaps another team takes a flyer on him, perhaps to make Buffalo lose the late pick. That would be hilarious.

I feel for him, end of his NHL hopes and dreams very likely. It is what it is though and he'll likely still have a long and prosperous career in Europe.

Many players don't even get the chances he had and he can say he at least gave it his best shot.

This would be such an epic trolling of the Sabres.

from TSN.ca:

"Should he clear waivers, Omark would have an opportunity to develop with the Sabres' AHL affiliate in Rochester."

Okay Omark, now go rip up the Swiss league for the rest of your career like you were destined to do from the beginning!

I hope somebody claims Omark. If we're really lucky maybe that 6th round pick will turn into a player like Omark!

Weird.

Prosportstransactions.com is usually bang on and they have the condition as games played for the Sabres.

I hope a divisional rival picks up Omark just to take away a pick from Buffalo

Has to be.

Plus, waiving him now lets him either be claimed and relocate over the Olympic break, or clear waivers and make arrangements for their farm team or a euro team over the break. Makes perfect sense.

Claimed by the Penguins, who are probably going to turn him into a 50 goal scorer beside Crosby.

Waiver claims (and players placed on waivers) always take place at 10:00 AM Mountain time.
