It is possible that Rinne could go to Milwaukee for a conditioning stint during the olympic break. Preds have been doing their homework on how they could do the conditioning stints in splitting it a week at a time. Whether it happens depends on Rinne but he'll be going to Milwaukee first.

The sooner he is on the ice, the better. The only way to get back into top form is to get in the crease and face shots. It won't happen in the press box.

Playing had nothing to do with the infection.

Saw on Twitter a few days ago that Rinne has been allowed to skate a little bit…it was classified as "just a little moving around" and didn't sound like full-fledged skating. Has anyone been to practices and actually witnessed this? Curious to know exactly how much he's doing and what he looks like.

I still think there's no way he's back this year. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it happening.

I don't know why they leak info the way they do. He has been on skates for almost a month and has practiced a few times with different coaches. Maybe they are spoonfeeding him and the public. I am actually shocked he wasn't in net a week or so ago

We should rename this thread "Waiting for Rinne".

I assume you are close to the organization. Without giving too much information, how do you know he's been on ice for almost a month?

Nice! Post Olympic break?

Could be the shot in the arm the team needs to spark a hot streak for the final couple months.

My hope is that he starts the first game after the break cause, Hutton will NOT
get this team to the playoffs.

Does he not need a conditioning stint in Milwaukee first? Otherwise the rust is going to kill this team.

He'll probably go down there once the NHL goes to Sochi.

I thought all assignments had to be made before the break.

Even if he doesn't go down for conditioning.
A rusty rinne is better than anyone they have right now.

This is a conditioning assignment, a little different, I believe.

Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves here? He's standing on the ice in goalie equipment. It's a long road from that to playing a game, let alone playing a game at the level he was previously playing at.

What have those of you who go to practice actually seen him do? When you say he's been on the ice for almost a month, what does that mean? Skating around, or actually taking shots and going down to make saves?

I hate to be so negative, but I would still be really surprised if he comes back…and if he does, I don't think it will make us better. At least not at first. We should be prepared for him to struggle as the rust comes off. He's not going to come in and play like a Vezina candidate out of the gate.

I literally laughed out loud when I read this. I think it was the joke and the joy of seeing Rinne standing on his own feet (skates).

Hey guys, how reliable is this?

Oh and Pekka Rinne was making saves. No big deal.
Because this is huge if true. She's also tweeted the pic you guys just posted.

I'm not a Preds fan but I hate seeing players go down with freak injuries or illnesses (the Letang news today shook me), and hope Rinne recovers soon.

Feed him more until he's wide enough to block the entire net.

Things will probably go pretty fast now. Expect at least a couple games out of him in AHL rehab before end of February.

As an outsider fan of the Predators, I had kind of written them off for the season. But if you add Rinne to a team that is 4 points out of the playoffs, it makes things pretty interesting. A team with confidence in their goaltending definitely plays different.

An AHL tune-up during the Oly break (if possible) would be a great idea.

No assignments can be done during the break, not even conditioning.

I'm sure the team would have sent him down, if he had been ready for it.
