Filppula and Koivu out for Finland. Crushing blow for them.

meh. All I saw was hours of boring talking heads and athletes marching in. Watched a couple hours and none of it was the opening ceremonies. When exactly were they on?

The telecast makes you have to sit through the whole 6hour segment now knowing when the opening ceremonies are actually on. just turned it off after awhile.

I thought they did a terrific job this year. That girl being suspended in the air looked awesome.

What channel are you guys watching it on? CBC has been awful. Mostly commercials and cutting away from the opening. I've hardly seen much of the actual opening ceremonies.

edit now on CBC just repeating the athletes marching in again. wtf?

lol, I watched 5mins of opening ceremonies, Russian anthem and now its repeated to hours of athletes marching in.

Virtually all I've seen on CBC.

This being exactly what I've been watching on HDTV on CBC. Nothing but advertising, talking, but not the opening ceremonies

http://olympics.cbc.ca/videos/live/v...-ceremony.html

It says opening ceremonies and they keep doing the teasers but..

more commercials then the superbowl. arrggghh

Now news of russian shower spying:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ol...icle-1.1605454

"On the same day the Russian deputy prime minister told gays coming to the Winter Olympics not to touch children, he divulged that cameras are keeping an eye on Olympic tourists while they’re in the shower.

The blunder happened when Dmitry Kozak was asked about conditions in hotels and the lack of water, the subjects of ongoing media criticism.

Kozak suddenly became defensive and blurted: “We have surveillance video from the hotels that shows people turn on the shower, direct the nozzle at the wall and then leave the room for the whole day.

Now?

Overall the whole Sochi bid and development has been awful.

its been a cluster**** from the start and full of extortion, bribes, corruption.

With the costs spinning out of control to over 51B For comparisons the Vancouver Winter Olympics cost 7B.

Knowing the desperate impoverished conditions many Russians are in I find this extravagance obscene spending.

This was the only event I was able to see live yesterday (I hate watching sports on tape delay too) and I can tell you there was nothing funny going on with the judging. The Russian pair was very dominant and the Canadians were easily second best, better than the rest of the field.

With the opening ceremonies having taken place, it's time for the media to grow a pair and start reporting on the games and not the conditions of their hotel rooms and bathrooms.

This "woah is me" garbage they've been reporting got old about a week ago.

No worries. You'll need to skip past the first little bit though, it's some leftovers from a children's show they had on. I sat there wondering how the hell it related to Sochi for way too long before I realized that . Not sure why ****** is censored either... must be some bizarre forum rule

Probably gonna be hard for the press to get over what a joke this Olympics is given all the nightmare surroundings and juxtaposition of 51Billion in Olympic spending surround by poverty.

I imagine the first thing one would note, just like in Beijing, is what a mistake and absolute mess the whole thing is. Probably the first thought anybody gets arriving. Although I have no idea how anybody would want to.

Any press of this is going to feature the lie that this Olympics is, much like it did in China.

It seems as if all the reports are sounding like "ski hill built in gold" and highway "made out of caviar"

The whole graft and corruption and scandal preceding this is pretty hard to avoid.

Austria probably should've been awarded these Olympics.
