If that's what was really on the table, then there's your reason why the trade hasn't happened yet and won't.

And why Gagner has not been moved

Well... 3 minutes out and not a single move. Typical over hype by the media on todays roster freeze..

Is there any reason to believe this guy would supplant Hall, or Perron? If not then what's the point? He doesn't make our team better now, or in the foreseeable future.

Clifford and Prokhorkin would be an awful return, and there is just no way we could be asked to hold money on top of that. It has to be something better than that, or why is Mact even listening?

I just don't understand this.

Might as well settle for Mike Richards then

3, 2, 1, 0 The talking heads get back to talking about the Leafs (their biggest viewer market).

Man, I wished we could get a good hockey talk show for the west, you know, people who actually watch west coast games.

PS. Love that username

Russian factor is a serious issue. George McPhee might lose his job because he couldn't get Kuznetsov over here.

With that said, if your getting Clifford and Prokhorkin(???!?!?) for him, essentially 4th liner + garbage, there is no reason to trade him.

I was ok with Clifford + good asset, but Clifford plus nothing makes no sense. Trade him at TDD or the draft.

Hell see if Ottawa wants him (rumors of Spezza leaving etc.), or Toronto or some other team.
He's 20, 6'2, and has 18 goals, and 17 assists in 48 games in the KHL. At 21, Kuznetsov has 7 goals and 10 assists in 27 games.

It's just got to be submitted by then. Might still happen (but probably not)

Well he's also playing beside Radulov which certainly doesn't hurt.

That being said, as much as I don't want to trade for prospects I'd much rather have Prokhorkin than Clifford.

Latest from LA on Gagner.

The Mayor John Hoven ‏@mayorNHL 53s

Haven't confirmed yet, but likley once #Oilers asked for prospect over a draft pk for Gagner, (see last night's tweet), things went sideways

All signs point to Kuznetsov coming over after his current contract ends - exactly as he said he would, and as he reiterated this February again. If George McPhee is on the hot seat (to be debated) it's not for that reason.

"The Mayor" can get bent.

How dare the Oilers not want to just give Gagner away for whatever table scraps Lombardi felt like giving them.

Have fun with your current plummet down the standings and subsequent loss of home ice advantage to whichever playoff opponent you get (assuming you get in) and Conference-worst offense.

I'm sure that impending first round exit will make holding onto Jake Muzzin or whoever the hell you have in Europe totally worth it.

I'd take Prokhorkin over any of the Kings' prospects. Toffoli included.

I'm guessing the pick wasn't a first? Not that the Oilers need another draft pick but the pick would have some value at the draft.

Sounds like MacT was looking for a top prospect if that's what made the deal go sideways....good on him.

If we want to find out who is coming back from L. A. for Gagner we just have to find out which Kings players used to play for the Leafs or Marlies.

Sam Gagner is going to get hurt in the game tonight and he'll end up being out for the rest of the season.

So,now we're looking more so at the draft at moving him.

MacT instills more confidence in his ability every time he deals with someone, i think we may be ok in the future. he isnt stupid and he doesnt panic. all hope could still be tossed soon enough but i would say in his first 8 months on the job mact hasnt got hacked yet/
