Great game but I hope certain players steps it up after the olympics, 1 line can't carry the team alone.

Nice bounce back, stinks they couldn't hang on in the 3rd, but still got the big two points.

Pittsburgh is the biggest team of ********** in the league, there's not one likeable player there. Glad to beat them. Staal, McDonagh and Girardi played very well tonight defensively. Our third line has been killing it recently. A+ to all of them

I thought we played a really good game overall. The only really bad plays were the penalties and the blown coverage, unfortunately the Pens are a good enough team to make you pay for a mistake almost every time.

Outside of the last goal and Klein getting turned around by Sutter the D played an exceptional game, especially McD, G and Staal.

Nice to be going into the Olympic break with a win, hopefully they can come out firing on the other side.

Also, I thought the rule was that if you were in the box at the end of OT you couldn't participate in the SO. Was this a rule and it was changed, or did I just imagine it?

Does anything feel better than beating the Penguins in Pittsburgh? (In the RS).

No.

I think Chroos Kroodor will benefit greatly from the break. He's still in need of a lot of adjustments mentally and physically, not to mention the practice and re-calibration he will benefit from.

So... does Zucc speak French English?

That's the only way you could work so well with two of these guys

I don't care what you guys say, we CAN take these guys on in the playoffs. I"m not saying we'd beat them, but we can clearly keep up with them. Even if we lost in the shootout tonight, we proved we can go into their house and give them a run for their money. We shouldn't have needed to go to OT, but we did what we needed to do and we won. That's all that matters, and that's all that matters in the playoffs.

I gave Hank a star. It wasn't an outing that'll blow you over but when you go to Pitt and bring home 2 points I'm giving my goalie some love.

More in depth

The Enigma line: What can I say. I keep waiting for the line to fall apart, and it keeps proving me wrong. Zucc has been playing with the same engine and energy that we saw some players have under Torts, but is skilled enough where it doesn't seem to slow down his playmaking. Brassard is just good with the puck, seems to know where his teammates are without looking, and that one-timer of his is just SNEAKY. Pouliot is in quite possibly the only role he can fill, which is to be opportunistic, and waiting for the puck, but, he's doing it marvelously. A player I don't like proving me wrong is so, so sweet.

People have been telling me that this line has become the de facto 2nd line, and I disagree. They've become the 1st.

Speaking of...

I hate Rick Nash. He may be the worst "superstar" alive. He exerts no effort, takes selfish, momentum killing penalties, should never, EVER see the penalty kill again, and since this is apparently now something we can hold against a player, he flubbed 2 really good scoring chances today.

Stepan was a bit better. Not much, but a bit.

Kreider was a non-factor for most of the game, but seemed to find some fire later on. I really wish someone would scrub that match-penalty from his memory; he's gone tentative again.

The Richards line was alright. The 3 of them shot at MAF from every angle, created some good chances, but more importantly, they did a good job against the Pens top line for the entire game.

Hags is skating well again, though he's still making some dumb passes, lead to a few turnovers.

Cally, up until he forgot where he was in the 3rd minute of the game, had played well. Had 3 takeaways, 2 in the neutral zone and another in the O, shot early and often, battled on the board. He made one mistake and it was the worst one he could.

Richards, again: Great on the Powerplay, eh 5 on 5.

4th line did their job. Carcillo could have gone out trying to wreak havoc, but wisely, did not. Boyle had a bit of a rough game on the PK, but that happens against the pens.

A good game, a bad mistake. I'll take a tie against Pittsburgh in their barn. And it's nice to get the "win", even if it is in the shootout.

If a player like Matt Cooke or Dan Carcillo trips up Callahan at the end of the game, I'd expect the main board to crucify them.
Stralman did basically the same thing fifteen seconds earlier.

Hacking a guy at the end of the game in a dangerous situation is a smart play and at least from a small set of Rangers games, it looks like it's being coached into guys more and more.

Most road wins in the league, with one simple trick.
(and terrible at home)

Season ticket holders hate them.

In other words, we're not making the playoffs but we're winning the Cup.

We have 9 players with 10+ goals so I wouldn't worry too much. One line will be hot and the others cool at times.
