According to RDS, the Rangers are trying to land Bertuzzi

According to RDS (the channel who broadcast the Montreal Canadians games), the Rangers are currently working on a deal who would land Todd Bertuzzi in NY.

Original link...(http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/222893.html)

Translation

If there is a player who might draw a lot of interess from differents NHL team, it will be Todd Bertuzzi. RDS has learned that a few NHL teams have already shown interest for the Florida Panthers player.

In fact the NY Rangers would have take the lead in the negociation with the Florida Panthers and they are working on a deal who could happen very soon....

I am not sure if it can interess the Rangers fans but RDS is a very reliable source. This doesn't mean that this deal will happen but there is a strong chance that Bertuzzi might wear a Rangers uniform in a near future.

enless they are thinking of replaceing Shanny with Bert it would be a stupid move

Bert is going to the open market and I would prefer shanny to Bert

From his Vancouver days he "May, could be or a slight chance" he does not play fairly with all the players in the dressing room.

Shanny is a team leader and bridge builder

Can't stand Big Bert, but I'd take him if Bob Barker brokered the deal.

Man, I hope not, never been a fan of Bertuzzi the person nor Bertuzzi the player. I'd rather not give anything of importance (prospects, picks) to get him. I mean if they're asking for Hall and Malik, go for it, but otherwise I'd pass.

and this solves the 2nd line center problem how? Not a fan. Unless their looking to replace Hossa with Bert, I'm not so sure I get this one.

Thanks for the translation. I'm not a fan of Bertuzzi but I would try and think he has changed. Can't say I've seen him play much since actually.

This is a strange deal to me, cause I really cant tell if I would like it, no matter what we gave up. I guess if its cheap and his contract isn't tedious then whatev.

Bertuzzi was lining up at Center every now and again for the Canucks in his last year in Van-city, and he *is* primarily a playmaker now... he could probably pull it off, but he's better off on the wing.

On a PS3 I don't think it'd happen but I certainly would take it. Btw, great avatar. I think it should be What Wouldn't Avery Do? lol

We have a 2nd line center, his name is Nylander and he plays on the first line. We need to solve the first line center problem.

I would challenge that RDS is a reliable news source too...they're about as reliable as Sports Net in terms of reporting rumors with less substantiation than other sources. They do normally have a pretty good handle on french canadian players, and of course the Canadiens, but they've had mixed success in my experience with other rumors.

RDS is the french version of TSN who is the canadian sport channel. They are not always right but their main market is hockey (with a 700k to 1M viewers for a hockey game). At least 60% of their staff are dedicated towards hockey only.

They are not always right but a rumor is a rumor so most of the time they don't happen. But I think that you can trust RDS since a lot of french canadians are working in the NHL and this is where RDS get their insight (scouts, GM , ex players, lower administrator of a hockey team etc...).

Näslund-Morrison-Bertuzzi
Shanahan-Cullen-Bertuzzi

It sure is a upgrade over what we got. Still he won't come cheap, I would bet at something like Montoya and Hossa.

Nah, I much rather go for someone less established and younger for that kind of package.

Never mind the fact about Bertuzzi being out of action since mid October with back surgery. The Panthers have targeted February 17 as a possible return date.Nearly 10 days away.If Bertuzzi returns on the 17th,that leaves only 4 games for teams to get a look at Bertuzzi.Who knows how Bertuzzi will feel playing four months after back surgery?A power forward coming off back surgery/bad back?Adam Graves.Wendel Clark

Ola, no team is going to give up a premier goalie prospect for an older, injury prone, overpaid forward in Bertuzzi. There seems to always be this notion that the Rangers have to give up a ton for any player. Bertuzzi could be had quite easily for a package of involving some of the following players. Betts, Pock, Immonen, Lampman and Hollweg. Avery is 26 a nd would be a RFA. Not the same thing and we didn't give all that much for Avery IMO.

If you are talking giving up Montoya, you are talking players like Horton, Richards and Hemsky. Those type of players.

I don't remember any minor league goalies fetching NHL All Stars in trades. I don't remember any major league goalies doing it either but I assume it has happened. Is there a person alive who wouldn't trade Montoya for Richards?
