Scored a hat trick last night. Still kind of in shock.

Previous 2 seasons = 4 goals
Last night = 3 goals

I just switched a few weeks ago from D to W, and last night was the first time ive felt comfortable in the O zone. Really hope this keeps up.

I know that feeling, the same thing happened to me today, went 10 games without a goal and suddenly, BAM, hat trick. Usually, when that happens, you go on a long hot streak of goals in the following games.

Guess I'm sticking as a forward on my team. Last night we won 5-4. I played LW for the first two periods and C for the last period. I finished the game with 1 assist (playing as C), a few good passes down low, and two missed nets on the breakaway ( ). Maybe I'm snakebitten right now. Or my shot is just that bad . One more thing to work on, I guess.

Oh yeah, my faceoff % on the season is still 0%

Lost by 1, 2g2a for me. I was on defense, couldn't get too deep to power through and rack up goals like I usually do. I was looking to swap with someone in the 3rd, but it didn't come to fruition because they wanted me skating out more (2 D lines vs. 3 F). Good game all the way through though, gotta lose sometime!

Last night I scored one of the coolest goals in my eight year playing "career".

My center took a penalty in the offensive zone, so the faceoff came just outside the line. I kind of tied up the other center's stick on the draw so the puck trickled just behind her. When the D-man stepped up to get it, I pulled the puck to the backhand around him, then went forehand to get around the other D-man. I was just at the top of the crease so I cut across laterally as someone took my feet out from me. As I fell I somehow managed to chip the puck up and into the net.

First short-handed goal after dangling the D and scoring while sliding on the ice.

We won 4-2 to put us at...3-10-0.

Interesting thing I've noticed about my hockey stats (yes I keep stats on myself):

2011-12 20gp 19-7=26pts
2012-13 19gp 5-6=11pts
2013-14 13gp 8-4=12pts

I had always thought two years ago I had a great season, last year I really struggled, and this year I've been doing well.

But then I noticed this:

2011-12 19g / 102 shots (5.1 s/g) = 18.6%
2012-13 5g / 96 shots (5.1 s/g) = 5.2%
2013-14 8g / 68 shots (5.2 s/g) = 11.8%

My shots per game is virtually identical for the last three years. The big change was in terms of shooting percentage. Granted I was a bit quicker two years ago and had a few good breakaway goals, but in reality I was just lucky two years ago and then snakebit last year.

I guess small sample size doesn't just apply to the NHL.

True. I was held without a goal on 30+ shots. My shooting percentage (that I can't estimate) was ridiculously low, which indicated I was bound to score again. Netted a hat trick, which automatically raises my shooting percentage to its normal value.
Maths never lie.

Yeah i think i'm on a bit of a hot streak. In the two seasons before this, i had 3 goals playing D. Now having played W for about 5 games, i have 6 goals, 5 in the last 3. Nice to feel like i'm starting to figure things out.

Got to play forward last night, won 4-2. Opened up the scoring with a garbage goal. I skated the puck into the middle of the zone, passed left to my wing. He kind of whiffed on the shot and it got deflected to me somehow. I threw a weak-ish backhand toward the net; deflected off the defenseman and in. Whatever works!

Also, my captain informed me we'll be moving up a division next year (C2 to C1). Looks like I've got about 20 more lbs to lose before then!

Had my first ever training session last night. What a difference. I started skating and playing about 5 months ago, and have been self taught up to know. Just one session, and I was already able to improve a number of things (and realize some things I was doing completely wrong).

Well, today I set foot on the ice with gear, stick and puck for the first time ever. When I dreamed about this, I was a lot better But it was a ton of fun and my legs are still burning 2 hours later. I hope they recover soon as I've got skating lessons in 4 hours! Is it bad form to celebrate scoring on an empty net in stick and puck? Oh well, don't judge!

Sounds like you had a great time, and there was a goalie in that net....once!

Standard height of the player using it, not length of the actual stick.

First five games of the season I went 2 goals and no assists, next five games i have five goals and five assists. I really don't feel like I have been playing a whole lot better than the first half but I am actually burying the chances that I am getting now. Two more games until playoffs so hopefully this is a prolonged hot streak

Had my first inline game today, but unfortunately lost 4-2. 0g0a for me, but had quite a few shots on net. Their goalie was a wall the entire game.

Looking to improve my percentage next week!

We only had 4 D for tonight's game, so I switched back to the blueline for this one. No points for me, but we won this one 6-4 because of some late-game heroics. We scored with 7.6 seconds left to break the tie, then scored again on a buzzer-beater. Very exciting game, especially since the other team had some former club players on it

We brought out team's win streak up to 4 games after winning 1 the entire first half of the season.

Personally I've been doing better as of late (over PPG since switching to center) so hopefully this success will translate when I switch over to summer league. Next week I'm starting up in the gym again, so hopefully I can be in shape to compete with the (much) better players in that league.

Today I have 4 games between 3 of my teams. Thankfully the weakest opponent is in game #4, at least.

Well, I got into a car accident while going home between each pair of games. We lost the first 2 and my other team ended up losing the other two without me and a body short. Bad day all around for me.

Thank you. I'm OK but my ear is ringing from the side airbag hitting it, and my neck is a little sore. I think half is due to waiting 2+ hours for help to arrive while sitting sideways in a highway median, looking towards oncoming traffic though. The accident was one thing but the way AAA handled it and the awful response (lack of, that is) from police was just insane. Thank God we weren't injured or in need of professional assistance because they sure dropped the ball. Passenger was perfectly fine, only I was rattled.

We basically got run off the road by some jerk and upon sliding on all the snow, nearly rolled over. We were definitely up on two wheels, at which time the side airbags deployed all around.
