I think he meant Stewart won't use his size and power regardless of the system he is in.

You guys are both actually right. I definitely agree that moving to a team that plays a more "run and gun" style would suit Stewart a lot better. But at the same time, he's become so much of a perimeter player that it's almost sad to watch. For such a big guy, he sure plays like a cream puff at times. That's something that I don't think would change, regardless of where he plays. He'd be so much more effective if he would just drive the net and use his size to out-muscle guys in front of the net. Almost like a Thomas Holmstrom on steroids, albeit a much better skater.

Click the FAQ, it explains it.

The horizontal axis is the percentage of time the player started in the offensive zone, the vertical axis is a rating of how good the players he played against are, and the bubble sizes are a relative rating of how many shots were directed at the net while the player was on the ice. A blue bubble (good) means more shot attempts were made at the opposing team's net when the player was on the ice, a red bubble (bad) means the player was getting outshot.

Thanks P9s. Dear lord that is terrible. Like horrible, awful, ridiculously terrible on Stewart's part.

Pens fan here, just wondering what it'd take to get Stewart? I know he's been struggling, but I'd imagine he'd get a 1st + what?

Either 1st+ at the draft or something around Sutter if we can't get anything better at the deadline.

That chart also goes to show that even when Berglund isn't putting up points he is definitely a solid contributor to the team.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that, but at the same time, he centered the line that got shredded by LA in the playoffs. Both series' against LA in fact.

That is true, he was awful defensively in the LA series. He's a very average player and is expendable. Keep him for depth, fine, trade him to improve the club, fine.

I posted a thread on advanced hockey statistics a few weeks back with the link above but it got zero comments Maybe it was my inability to clearly explain what the tools in the link are capable of. I am glad to see people incorporating the links/graphs I posted into our discussions. I think everyone should go take a look at the Usage chart P'9 posted. It says all you need to know about the Blues and who is helping/hurting the team, who hitch trusts, ect.

Interesting, can't say that I'd be willing to give up Sutter for him, but a deal at the draft would be plausible. So would a first and a prospect get it done at the draft, and if so, which position and level of prospect?

How about your first and Blaine Byron your 6th round pick in 2013? Bit of a long term project, but we could use center prospects.

NYI have a sad history of rushing the youngsters and it is no different with Nelson and Strome. Good luck with that.

I am not a Stewart fan, but if be wants to play ice hockey, then he should do it in a culture that better suits him; the Eastern Conference or the KHL.

He has been stuck in the West for his entire career. Too bad he didn't come up through the WHL.

22 yr old Nelson spent all last season in the AHL. The rookie has 19 pts and been playing on all top three lines, playing solid defensively and on the pk.

This is 20 yr old Strome's first pro season. 15 games in the NHL and 32 games in the AHL.

19 yr olds Reinhart and Pulock were the last two cuts in camp, both sent back to juniors.

Yeah, that rushing 'em:

And hey, good luck with Stewart.

Yeah, Nelson has definitely impressed me and Strome has proved he is too good for the AHL. Both are being developed right.

Knew this guy was a bum after a handful of games in the Note and my position hasn't wavered even slightly from then to now. I see even the last horses are finally crossing the finish line on this board.

Can't be rid of him soon enough which hopefully happens before the PO's.

For us it would be, which is why the Isles wouldn't do it.

Stewart+ for Nielsen is more realistic. Perfect security for if we don't get Stastny. And if we do get Stastny, Sobotka can slide over to the wing.

Nelson and Strome may not have been rushed, but Niederreiter was most definitely rushed. There's no arguing that whatsoever. Snow was an idiot for letting him sit on the fourth line all season.

Ideally, I would ask for Teddy Blueger or Oskar Sundqvist, but realistically Byron is who we could get. That is if we haven't already made a trade by the draft. I wouldn't rule that out. Byron is a great talent you all have. Got to watch. Excellent skater and hands.
