I feel that's the only medals that we got that were judged. everything else was speed/time events.
I believe you are right, most of our medals are from non-judged events. We are just never judged fairly at the Olympics, but that's okay we still have a lot of more chances at gold.

Just watched Hamelin, can't wait to see all his other events, hopes he medals again.

Anyone have a link for Moguls with commentary...? I am skipping my classes today till 2:30...staying home, sipping hot chocolate and watching the Olympics.

I never watched the Olympics before 2006 besides the hockey games involving Canada but I have never missed anything since.

Each team has 4 players, and each player shoots twice. Your goal is to get it closest to the centre. After all the shots are taken, whoever has the rock closest to the button (middle), get a point, if the next rock closest is also yours, then you get another point, however if the 3rd closest rock is the other teams, then you only end up with 2 points that round.

okay. so you have a sheet of ice. at the bottom of the ice there's something akin to a bullseyes [rings] called the house. the smallest ring is a called a button.

the object is to take your rocks (2 round rocks with handles) and get it closest to the button. it's akin to chess on ice. [or what people call.. shuffleboard?]

there are 4-5 people per team. [only 4 compete at a given time]

You have a Lead, a 2nd, a Vice (aka third) and the Skip. the Skip is the captain of the team so if You, Pi, Kyle and I were a rink, and I was the Skip, it would be called Team Daisy [it could also be called "a rink"]

there are 8 ends. [if there are tied, you can go to 10]. if you are very far ahead by the 6th - you can withdraw [because there's no way to win].

Bilodeau is a superstar...He's had the best qualifier IMO. I think he'll win gold.

His only challenger is probably Kingsbury. Should be gold and silver with an outside chance at a podium sweep.

Moguls probably destroys your knees...no wonder it's so hard to defend gold.

Thanks for the explanation, people.

Are they going to show Hamelin's event anywhere today? CBC is going to women's hockey.

When I see Hamelin, Bilodeau, Tessa and Scott compete, I can't believe that 4 years have passed so quickly

2010 feels like yesterday.

They always have a repeat later on in the day of the day's events.

Also for people interested in a stream check the link I posted above (I'll post it again here: http://olympics.cbc.ca/online-listing/index.html)

They have all the events with commentary and can even watch live.

I know, it literally feels like it just happened. Man I'm also excited for some of our other snowboarding events, especially Snowboard Cross, Maelle Ricker was awesome in 2010.

You are welcome my first introduction in curling was in 98. I was like in middle school, had no idea what was going on and I was screaming at the t.v. to hurry hard (basically, sweep faster), like I was a natural. You pick it up really quickly.

Also - will probably be on Primtime tonight for sure. [or Olympic Afternoon with Scott Russell].

Yeah. this is an event, you start young - there are some people who can eek out 3 games, [Hannah Kearney is for an example - 06, 10, 14], but I think especially for Moguls, it's one of those "sieze the moment" events. ANYTHING can happen. [Hannah's kickout for example cost her, while, Hannah's speed won her the gold in '10].

but it's the entire discipine. No repeat in free style aerials either.

I know. I remember vancouver so vividly.
a big part of me is sad that Toronto won't bid for the Summer games. I think that it could/would do the same thing for summer athletes, that Vancouver did for Canada's winter athletes. I hope Montreal/Quebec makes a push. I think they could win it - North America hasn't had a Summer Games since ... Atlanta.

Thought this was funny but Kessel thanked his girlfriend on twitter for tweeting him this message:

At least the relationships isn't getting in the way of her patriotic allegiance to Canada
What? Kessel has a girlfriend?

Ricker does have a broken wrist - but she can still eek it out. Dominque Maltais is also a heavy favourite. [I really want her to do well, and medal, she's had the worst luck in the finals].

I am telling you - by Rio, I am getting a device that can stream. I'm taking a sickie lol

I'm not surprised even a little bit. If we COMPLETELY ignore Phil Kessel as a person who I'm sure has many redeeming qualities, he is a multi millionaire in his mid-20s and a superstar in the largest hockey market in Canada if not the world. All of a sudden, The Phil is a pretty attractive guy.

Yeah I recently read about her broken wrist but if she can manage a medal with an injury like that it would be amazing.

i'm trying to recall all our medals now

Hockey [2 golds]
Curling [1 gold, 1 silver]
Skeleton [1 gold]
Figure skating [1 gold, 1 bronze]
Bobsleigh [1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze]
Freestyle Skiing[1 gold, 1 silver (moguls), 1 gold (Ski Cross)]
Shorttrack [2 golds, 2 silvers, 1 bronze]
Snowboarding [2 golds (one in cross, one in parallel]
Longtrack [2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze]

okay that's everything. 4 medals were from judged events

Canada always does better in every winter Olympics [since 88]. The goal is 29 medals this olympics. we already have 5 medals. [I think people were expecting another medal in Slopestyle, but Spencer O'Brien couldn't lay down a clean run].
