Two medals!

Gold and Bronze! This has got to be the best start for Canada, eh?

Gold and Bronze for Canada

Way to go! Narrowly missed out on gold and silver. Still, excellent.

Telling you man. Nobody is safe on that course. Even the spectators are having helmets thrown at them.

Dara Howell just phenomenal. tbh I don't like watching some of these events due to the danger but what a Heroic performance by all the Canadians in this event and everybody fighting and trying to get the last drop out of this course.

Dara Howell rocked this. I got shivers. What a nice kid. Must've been great to win it all on the first finals run. Didn't need the second. I thought Lamarre should've been 2nd it was that close.

One of the great comments on the CBC site:

We are Canada. We will stumble and fall well behind the pack. In Vancouver, we sucked until the last few days. In Sochi, our well will run dry after the first few days. We will get no more than 15 medals, well short of Vancouver. I hope heads roll, as my tax dollars paid for this.

Another tough game for the Mens Curling team. Here is hoping they can recover and go on a bit of a run here.

Another cross-country event, another near-sweep by the Norwegians in the womens sprint

Seriously, this is amazing. Vancouver was something special, but I've never seen Canada dominate quite like this. All the Athletes should hold their heads very high.

Some people are just arrogant and pessimistic. I totally agre with you though, I'm not sure how someone could complain about starting strong. This would be like complaining that the oilers were up 4-0 after the first period.

Some people, Canadians and Oilers fans very much included, have this inferiority complex. Instead of looking at the success and feeling confident, they prepare themselves to see failure because they naturally feel inferior and thatís how it comes out. As Canadians in international competition, that ended, somewhat, in Atlanta with Donavan Bailey and was CRUSHED in Vancouver by Canada Winning the Olympics Period.

I just can't get into these olympics during the week. By the time I see something on TV it's already been reported and I'm not one to watch something that I already know the result for. Hopefully with the long weekend coming in I'll get into it

It doesn't help that the internet allows people to share their opinions without having to back it up. I don't blame technology or anything but it really helps the trolls come from out under the woodworks. I would imagine that these are a small percentage of the population and doubt that they would have such a strong stance if they had to defend their position in person. Their have been a lot of studies on the matter and at the end of the day I think that the Olmypics help bring people together.

I love that I can come on HFOil and talk about the Olympics

It is the next Olympics after hosting medals boost that many former host nations receive. Having well funded athletes that are able to train in world-class facilities in your own country makes a significant difference.
