Anyone remembers the name of that French-Canadian Journalist who was killed in a car

Does anyone remember the name of that French-Canadian Journalist who was killed in a car accident in the early 80s?

He was covering the Montreal Canadians for the account of " Le Journal de Montréal" was young and upcoming.

I absolutely loved his articles. He was going beyond simple analysis and digging for information.

I recall very clearly, an article he had written about Chris Chelios way before he was even in the line-up (he was playing in a US college), where he stated he would be the next top defenseman for the Montreal Canadians.. nobody had ever written about him until he did.

If my memory serves me right, he was killed in a car accident, driving between Montreal and Sherbrooke or something like that. I recall one of the other journalists saying that he liked to listen to music in his car very loudly, and had a taste for speed... I think the journalist meant to say, he loved life fully...

I think of this journalist everytime I see a dump article... because HE, would not write dump articles... and I missed him for that.

Thanks ahead of time...

Merci beaucoup Stefan!

Thanks to Stefan, a name that had unfortunately slipped my mind for many years.

Stefan, did you happen to know him, or simply remembered after roughly 23 years?

He died between Malartic and Riviere-Eva, in Abitibi-Temiscamingue.

Stefan, what are you saying? His brother, Pascal Luneau? I dont think so. My name is Gabriel Luneau. He's my uncle. He have four brothers : Donald, Jacques, Mario and Jean-Noel. None of them ever lived in 3-rivieres, and they never coached hockey.
The brother of your brother in law... Who was your brother in law? Explain please.

Just heard we got a guy named Gorges (no 'e' ?) and a 1st round pick for Rivet. Good luck in San Jose Craig! I doubt this 1st rounder ever pans out.

Great, now we are selling off our players right before a playoff run.

Terrible move.

If a Francophone's name is Jean-Noel is it translated to John Christmas in Hinglish?
