The slump started on December 23rd. It's a non sense to keep blaming Latendresse and Carbo for this, when guys like Kovalev and Koivu are doing nothing since then.
I never blamed Latendresse for anything.

Funny how coaches have been losing the team every year for the last decade...
It's time for players to start working... What's so difficult about skating and driving the net???
Look at our 5 on 3 last night. Nobody's moving and nobody's in front of the net...
At the other end, you have guys like Fischer, Scheaffer and Neil in front of the net at all times and 3 forwards skating deep in the zone at all times.
You don't need a freaking coach to do that, you just do it.
Stop blaming the coaches all the time... Players are paid to play and they don't...
Yeah, why bother having a coach at all? The players can come up with their own line combos, shift times, plays, self-motivation, etc. Who needs a coach?

You think that the slump started when Latendresse was promoted, i think the players showed they were happy when Latendresse started scoring goals.
Separatist are french canadians... Quebecers for that matter, hating them is as stupid as hating french canadians, it's a political option, i didn't know it was allowed to hate someone based on his political views, way off topic though.
I'm really starting to get the impression that Carbonneau is not open to suggestions and tries to put everything on himself, like a boss that treats everyone like an idiot.
Koivu: "Listen, coach, I think maybe we should try-"
Carbo: "Wha? No, listen, just do what I say."
Koivu: "Sergei's a talented guy. What if we just-"
Carbo: "Streit, you're on the 1st line. We'll put the players that are making things happen on the top line."
Koivu: *rolls eyes*
Things seem to go well in the dressing room when the team wins and confidence is up. Things seem to go bad in the dressing room when the team loses and confidence is low.
The coach seems like a well respected genious when the team wins, or like an idiot that has lost the team when the team loses.
This seems to be fairly universal. When do coaches really "lose" the dressing room? I dunno, but suspect it is when (a) losing continues for a long time and (b), during this time, the coach makes decisions which the players don't agree with and think reactionary and innefective. I don't think Carbo has definately "lost" the team yet, but he is getting there. I believe his inexperience is really showing through and the players might be feeling that he is fetching rather than being in firm control.
I have it from a PRETTY good source that Kovalev, Souray and Koivu are all very appreciated by the coaching staff ...
I know that a main problem in this dressing room is that alot of IMPORTANT players seem lost right now, the Ryders and Higgins of this team need to rejuvenate their identity ..
There is no doubt this team needs an influx of veteran leadership ala ( Recchi and Tkachuk for the Canes last year etc...etc... ) FORSBERG

From Tuesday night:
Carbo: "Alright guys we need to tie this game up and we've got 40 seconds to do it...Johnson, Niinima, Bonkers, Lapierre, Dandy aaaaand Kovy you get out there."
Koivu/Samsonov/Higgins/Souray: *rolls eyes*
Markov in the pressbox: *rolls eyes*
Hab fans: *rolls eyes*
I would invite you to re-read that bolded part to realize how contradictory and therefore pointless it sounds.
Your understanding of the english language is very poor then. I said IN MY OPINION he isn't that great a leader in the room, then I added "Maybe I am wrong". It's just my opinion, I can't know for sure.
You think that the slump started when Latendresse was promoted, i think the players showed they were happy when Latendresse started scoring goals.
That doesn't have to do with Latendresse. I'm sure they were happy for him, he's their teammate. Latendresse is just doing his job and it would be stupid to blame him.
This thread has to do with how Carbo lost his players, and I think he did it by promoting the wrong guy. It sends a mixed message. Perezhogin was playing well and playing hard but he was passed over for a guy who was struggling. Yes it helped Lats, being promoted, and if you look through my posts you'll see me praising him because I think he's a great player...But this came at the cost of ruining Perezhogin's confidence.
The same mixed message is still being sent. Perezhogin continues to rot away in the press box- "because he takes bad penalties," while guys like Niinima, Ryder and others take just as many bad penalties and get ice time.

I guess I should rephrase. I don't hate them as people, but I do resent them for their political ideas and I hate what they want to do to my country. I'm sure they are fine people like you and me, hard working and honest, but I have alot of resentment for them like I'm sure they have resentment towards me.

Doesn't putting Johnson and Streit with Koivu turn the 1st line into a checking line? I found that to be such a strange move because instead of creating an offensive line, it just made the only potentially offensive line on the team into a defensive one.

Well that's my point, if they were happy for him, how did it send a wrong message to the players? In that particular case i mean.
Right now i think Carbo need to give Latendresse a wake up call, and send him in the stand saturday. I don't think Carbo is doing that well, but to say he has lost his players is overblown, i don't think any players goes on the ice thinking they don't want to play for him, ok maybe 2 or 3 players, but the team? I don't think so. I think the problem is in the leader of this team on the ice, their productions is horrible, and everyone seem to follow the leader... down.

How the team played so well until December 23rd then... ??? No, it is not the reason. The benching of Rivet and Samsonov + the gastro + having Huet struggling have made it. Not Latendresse going up on a 1st line.
If Samsonov, Perezhogin and Kovalev would had played better and showed some heart, the habs would not be in that situation...
All these ****ing Russians MUST GO ! I am sick and tired of them. And if Koivu could follow. I would more than happy !!
It was the beginning of players losing respect for Carbo, he's made quite a few mistakes since then, but that was certainly his first biggy.
As for your retarded comment about Russians, our only 2 consistent scorers are Kovy and Pleks, both european. So W.T.F are you talking about?
Ryder, Higgins, Johnson, Latendresse, Lapierre....what the hell have these good North American boys done for us lately?? You make no sense at all.
If this is in fact the case, which I'm still not sure, then this just proves what kind of babies they are. If they are going to hold a grudge over something like that then they need to grow up.
It's about mutual respect, not being 'babies'. Though in today's NHL, the coach does have to be sort of a babysitter, that's just the reality.
Umm, why can't they trade Rivet? Is he really all that important to our club? The guy has so many god damn brain cramps it's not even funny. And don't get me started on his little weak girly shot that always hits the opposing teams players on the pp.
Why should we keep him? Just because he's Koivu's buddy? Give me a break...
Rivet is a UFA after this year and makes 2.470 million.THat could be why he is so hard to get traded.

Not that i think any nationality is better than another or want to get rid of the Russians on this team, but the NA players you mentioned are not supposed to be the top players for this team, Higgins maybe but he's still in his early 20's, while Kovalev, Koivu and Samsonov should all be on top of the scoring sheet, so yes they have a HUGE responsability over this team struggles.

It's wishy-washy, is what it is. You go from assembling a roster of talented players that need to score to succeed, to having a roster of players that don't score who need to work like a bottomfeeder trying to make the playoffs in order to succeed.
Carbo trying to change this team's identity mid-season is pure deperation. Is a team with Samsonov, Ryder, Kovalev as wingers going to be an offensive team or a defensive one?
Carbo: "Alright guys we need to tie this game up and we've got 40 seconds to do it...Johnson, Niinima, Bonkers, Lapierre, Dandy aaaaand Kovy you get out there."

the NA players you mentioned are not supposed to be the top players for this team,
Ryder and Higgins play on our #1 scoring line, yet are not expected to be some of our top players?? Run that by me again??
I do agree with you these players bear more responsibility, but calling for all the europeans to be kicked off the team, when the only players performing respectably are european, strikes me as pretty stupid.

Perezhogin's confidence ?! If anything Carbo gave him confidence playing him with Bonk and Johnson until December. He was the guy on the line allowed to run wild. He had little offense to show and was taking hooking penalty more often than our D-mens that plays 20minutes a game. At some point he was not even playing hard anymore. You can see everyone who played with Bonk and Johnson had sucess and looked good.
Nobody cares in the locker room if Perezhogin get the shaft and Carbo certainly didn't lose control because he started to hardball him when he realized he was just leeching off Bonk and Johnson stellar play. If Carbo lost the team it's because of bad calls like sending the 4th line for a faceoff in the offensive zone, not breaking a slumping 2nd line when the team was winning and some other coaching mistakes. I could quote you on many things, you posted a lot of non-sense in this thread imo.
