Gameday: Wild @ Blue Jackets - 2004/01/31

Wild lead series overall 6-5-1-0 (according to Wild.com.. Pioneer Press says it's tied 5-5-1-1). Won the last meeting 5-2 in St. Paul. Last year, the Blue Jackets won the series 3-1-0-0. Wild lost in an ugly way both times they went to Columbus last season.

Zyuzin and Bomber did not make the trip. Gaborik will be a game-time decision, according to the papers.

I'll go with a 4-3 win. Just a WAG.

Should be a very interesting game to watch. I like it when these teams play. I'll predict a 3-2 Wild win. Wild goals by Park, Brunette and Zholtok. And since I'm a Zherdev fan, he'll pot both Jacket goals.

Good game. Roloson and Denis were awesome.

I can't help but wonder what a tandem of Rolly and Denis would have been like, if the CBJ had kept Dwayne.

Too bad we couldn't have put away a couple of those chances. Denis played well.. both sides played pretty tightly, really. Got a little chippy at times but it's fun to have guys to hate.

Why were Bouchard and Dupuis healthy scratches? Have they been playing poorly recently?

Ehh. Dupuis hasn't been great, but that typically hasn't been the only reason for a scratch. Who knows, Lemaire might've been trying to send him a message.
Bouchard gets the healthy scratch now and then, and so far it doesn't appear to be related to performance too much. In fact, the coaches have said in the past that they'll scratch a young guy after a good game as often as a bad. Just the way they deal with the young guys. They like to give them time off.. to reflect, I guess.
