Dan Girardi

I see a lot of theads asking for Defensemen.

Teams that need D what would you give up?

I can see the Rangers asking for a 1st line forward in return. Go

Unless there's an established 1st line forward coming back, I don't see the use for the Rangers.

I will give you teddy purcell plus 2nd round pick conditional to third on resigning.

I would offer brett connolly also if wanted over purcell.

If want to add RFA rights of Keith Aulie played full season last year LH D physical type would do that drop the pick to a 5th and not care if girardi resigned etc.

Toronto needs a d-man we will overpay with a 1st and a top prospect... I would even give up our top prospect, Connor Brown. He leads the OHL with 107 points, No one else is even close to a 100.

If they were asking for a first line forward they will be keeping him most likely. He will be an UFA at the end of the season, I can't see anyone giving that up for 20+ games and the playoffs.

If he were signed for a few more years it might be a different story.

for a ufa in 20 something games?? come on.. even us leaf fans are more realistic then that. If they deal him, i think it will be for a late first. and b prospect.

+1.

Can't see a soon to be UFA get a 1st line player.

He's a very good defenseman, but not worth that.

When has a UFA rental ever fetched a first line player?

Serious question.

I think it's more of most of NYR's fanbase does not want to deal him. He's been excellent lately.

It doesn't matter what the fans want. The Rangers and Meehan will need to come together on a contract soon or the Rangers will look to move the player. Time is running out. They will talk again next week after not talking this week. That comes after a week where no progress was made. Decision time is coming.

Then we'll be happy to keep him.

It's pretty much inevitable he's going to test UFA, maybe a desperate team pushing for the playoffs may offer a 2nd rounder but Rangers probably keep him for the playoff push if that's the case.

Since when does a player wanting to test FA deter teams from ponying up a deadline price for him?

Never stated that teams wouldn't offer up assets for him, just not significant ones.

I guess Ranger fans may be the only ones that expect a King's ransom. A 2nd or late 1st, at best, would be his price tag. I'm not sure what you guys are expecting.

You are out of your mind thinking of giving up CB and our 1st for Girardi. If we were legitimate contenders then maybe but Girardi isn't pushing us over the top and CB could be a real stud.

All the Leafs will be doing is waiting until July as the return will be too much for the Leafs to sacrifice.

I'm expecting a reason to trade him. A late 1st doesn't give a 2nd place team with playoff aspirations a reason.

The thing is that it has been reported that the Rangers would move both Girardi and Callahan before the trade deadline if they can't come to terms on a new deal with them.

We will see what happens, but if the Rangers are looking to trade him then they are going to take the best offer because they know they don't stand a good chance of re-signing him. If they sign him to a new deal then they will keep him, pretty simple according to a few published reports.

These proposals usually hinge on the Rangers and Girardi not reaching an agreement and the Rangers actively looking to deal him.

So whether or not you are looking for a reason to move him, if the Rangers actually to actively shop him they have a reason and it is so they get at least something in return for a player who is going to test the market anyway.

King's ransom?

No, if we move Girardi we would want fair compensation. Based on market value that's been set in stone by GM's previous trades for deadline acquisitions, Girardi is worth more than that fairytale number you pulled out of thin air.

In what world does a guy like Clowe go for a 2nd, 3rd, and a conditional pick when he was goaless and coming off a concussion?

Girardi's a legitimate first pairing RHD. There will be a lot of interested teams competing for his services if NY decides to trade him. Guys like Girardi don't hit free-agency often, or become available via trade.

Start with a 1st. Then add. If it's too rich, then move along and stop making pretend you have any idea how value works in the NHL.

Paul ****ing Gaustad went for a 1st. A 4th line rental. And Girardi's value is a late 1st or early 2nd. Where the hell do you people come up with this nonsense...

I get that, but for one, talks with Girardi have reportedly been smooth. Secondly, the Rangers were struggling mightily when that came out and are now piecing it together. In their current position, they're much more likely to keep their team in tact.
