Doan Rumor - (E3-4) 1st Calgary, 2nd Montreal

This is an Eklund rumor of a E3-E4 scale to Calgary and Montreal as a 2nd option.

Take it for what it is worth, just thought I would throw it out there for people to make mock proposals for.

So much going down today. I am hearing that Shane Doan may want a "new start" and it was confirmed to me by two sources in the last hour that Calgary (e3-4) is the most likely place for Doan. Calgary is scary if they add Doan in my opinion. Montreal is also on the radar for Doan, with one Montreal source saying that "Doan, if available jumps to number two on our wish list."

If we can cut a deal similar to Ottawa's, I wouldn't be opposed. However, I wouldn't like to part with the Kostitsyns or Grabovski.

Doan would be a great fit in Montreal. A big top liner who can be used in all situations, but I question his availability and God only knows what that idiot Barnett would want in return for him. Has anyone figured out what direction he's trying to take the Coyotes? I've got my fingers crossed.

What does everyone think #1 on the priority list would be BTW?

Phoenix gets a 30 goal scorer, we get a good PFW rental that would boost our team into success. Sure it's overpayment, but Ryder will cost us 2m+ next season and I think our money would be better spent on Johnson/Bonk + Souray.

I would say we're fleecing Phoenix actually and that they're the ones who should get a conditional pick.

I like the fact that this would bring a fiery player that has character to Montreal. The biggest thing we lack is character, and Doan is a pretty good leader, and a big body who's hard to move off the puck.

Well that looks like a good trade straight up (without picks), in my opinion. I'm sure that Phoenix fans would want more, though.

How so? Doan is barely a 30 goal scorer himself, the only difference is that one is an RFA (Ryder) and one is a UFA (Doan). Phoenix definitely wins that trade, especially when you consider that Ryder will receive only half of Doan's salary next year, if even.

Doan is way more valuable than Ryder. The only thing Ryder has on Doan is goal scoring, besides that, I'd take Doan in every other aspect.

I know Carbonneau would love a player like Doan too.

Well at least Janet's money would end up in Montreal gambling rackets, instead of Phoenix ones.

A 1st round pick is overpayment for Doan, who has 12 points in 32 career playoff games, and has only hit 30 goals once (and it was exactly 30).

if the going rate for nagy is an up and coming palyer and a high pick i expect it's more for doan..

Some people don't know the meaning of value. By this post, you're saying that a Montreal 1st round pick (somewhere between 16-19th pick) is worth as much as a proven 30 goal scorer.
