Free agents: Slovenian players

One tournament and especially a small # of periods doesn't mean much, but the Slovenian team is making me root for them. They remind me of the Swiss, when I used to cheer for them...before they got good. Now I just need to focus on how Canada is playing against the other top teams and that makes for good hockey.

Anyone think there is a sleeper for an NHL player off the Olympic Slovenian Men's team?

Sabahudin Kovacevic, that guy is mean.

I doubt any get a sniff.

But I agree I'm cheering for them a bit.

Jan Mursak is honestly good enough to be a 4th line NHL'er, didn't make the Wings because of unfortunately timed injuries.

I think a few of these guys could be good AHL players but don't see much NHL potential outside of the obvious Kopitar and Mursak imo.

I think Jan Mursak will get some looks from NHL teams for sure.

Mursak definitely has NHL wheels, it's just a matter of injuries and him being able to put it all together.

I don't think that I would say that Switzerland is a good team yet, but I'd say that they've learned an effective system and they've learned that it pays off to work hard. I think they've inspired quick improvement in a number of the European countries. It's great to see.

Mursak is a good skater....but he's not up to the physical game. His injuries weren't just bad luck, he isn't strong enough.

Our players (beside Kopitar obviously) are not strong enough for small ice rings and physical games in NHL and are much more suited for Euro leagues and bigger ice rings because they are good and fast skaters, but not so good in board battles.

But still, most of you know Mursak and he already said that his goal is to go back to NHL.

Other two players that maybe had a chance are Rok Ticar and Ziga Jeglic. Both fairly young (I believe 23 years old) and they have enough hockey knowledge, but is questionable how would they do in NHL.

But I can tell you that before this season there was a rumor that Montreal is strongly observing Rok Ticar.

Our reserve goalie Gracner wasn't picked up on last draft but could be in this years draft. Our first goalie Kristan has in his younger ages for sure enough quality to play in NHL, but he just enjoyed to much in his life (alcohol) to achieve more in his carrer.
