Nylander is definitely a second line center. Rangers problems could be solved if the first line works out. Hossa seems to be scoring from there, what kind of miracle is this? Dupuis should be on the third line with Cullen. They have a lot of speed together.
no way in hell should the cop line be re-arranged at all..IMHO they were the most effective line out there. they kept the pressure on, and really added a much needed transition game off the rush (Rather than setting it up every shift like the first 2 lines seem to do). only line i would touch is the 4th line, but NOT after a game like last night. i dont see why Dupuis needs to be in the lineup, he hasnt earned anything here yet. The guys who busted their butts last night did.
Worked well last night. Keep it till it doesn't. The first two lines are basically two 2nd lines, but it's a better balance and maybe not as easy to match up against. The key to Jagr's line is Hossa maintaining his play of late. I'd shift Avery and Prucha back and forth a bit during the game, again to confuse and confound. Plus I think Nyls and Prucha could work a little magic.
There is no way Dupuis is sitting. Sather just had to acknowledge the mistake of his Moore/Hall trade, there is no way he is going to have potential lifepreserver of that decision sitting in the pressbox over Colton Orr.
Not saying its right or wrong, but this is an ego-driven world. Let's not ignore that these are egotistical men running this organization. And be careful, if you insist Orr plays, it will be Orts, Prucha or Hollweg sitting instead.

Firstly on a night like tonight Orr should be in over a Prucha or Orts...but neither will be scratched so there is nothing to worry about. Dupuis will sit

Good lines, I wish Prucha was on the 1st as opposed to Hossa but I'll take it as long as Prucha gets off of the 4th line.
TO me, any combination that has Prucha on the 3rd line so that Hossa can skate with Jagr cannot be "good". And this is not just the usual HOssa-bashing, however he simply does not belong ahead of Prucha on any depth chart.

Come on, dude. How can you realistically argue Orr over Prucha? The two don't belong in the same breath. And please do not give me the diatribe that I have no idea of what an enforcer or their role is. I have been a hockey fan for a good, long time more than you have. Want to have Orr in the lineup? Then find away that another 4th liner sits.
Because hockey is turning into a wimp sport the need for inforcers are almost over. Unless Washingtom has a goon in there lineup that will take runs at Rangers Orr will be out of the lineup
Hence, the coach will field the same lineup as he did in last night’s drubbing of the Lightning, and Pascal Dupuis will begin his Rangers career not wearing No. 61 or No. 98, but a size 42 long suit (or something in that neighborhood).
I stand corrected... both in my guess and in my assessment of the management. A smidgen of credit to them for putting the ego aside for the right thing to do in regards to certain players earning another start.
And no way should Orr dress over Prucha. He is not your source of sissification in this lineup.

I won't start saying that you don't know anything...but then you come and claim that you've been a hockey fan much longer than I have. You have no idea about that...and even if you have...don't say it because you don't know it. Yeah I found away that another 4th liner sits...I didn't want Prucha sitting...all I was saying was on a night like tonight...Orr may even be more effective than Prucha. With Prucha getting more minutes again that's not the case....but I still feel as if...if they were both to play 5 minutes....Orr would make more use of it. Again....this is only if they were both to play 5 minutes

Hmm - with 3 players in the top 18 in scoring points in the entire league + one more in the top 14 in goalscoring - I would settle for 2 second lines of this caliber. Most teams would probably.
I think a new center + an offensive defender would make the team lethal (duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) - but there is really nobody left (after the past 2 trades, Krog, Ibister, Malik, Orr, Hollweg, Hossa, Pock, Immonen, Jessiman???) to deal unless - you start unloading future prospects and draft picks.
And that would not be favourably recieved.
But it will probably happen if:
Feb 15 @CAR
Feb 17 PHI
Feb 18 CHI
Feb 20 @NJ
Feb 22 NJ
Feb 24 CLB
Feb 27 MON
The Rangers are 5-2 after these games. That would mean they need a record close to 11-8 the remaining 19 games to gain PO entry (91-92 points). Which they then believe will be plausible.
If they are in this position at the trade deadline - they will probably do some deals involving major aging talent for prospects.
I hope they then will leave Staal, Dubinsky, Antisimov, Dawes, Callahan, Sauer, Baranka, Montoya alone. But they may not.
Erik Brewer is a hot candidate now after the Boston-Calgary trade, but his value increases for every day. And the sacrifice. At center ... I don't know. Maybe nobody is necessary now ?
But tell this to the Management!!!!
Straka- new center - Jagr
Avery-Nylander-Shanahan
Prucha-Cullen-Dubuis
Hollweg-Betts-Ortmeyer
Orr, Ibister, Callahan Dawes
Brewer-Rozsival
Ward-Tyutin
Rachunek-Pock
Girardi
Say Hossa + Immonen + Krog + lower pick for Smolinski (or claim Samsonov off re-entry waivers if the Habs have him go through this - somebody else will probably nab him though)
Say Malik (our +21 +- superstar - better deal while he is hot), Jessiman, ML and a high pick for E Brewer
Not maybe totally plausible - but also not unrealistic. Actually quite probable. Do not know if I totally like this though.
Kevin Weekes could maybe be dealt for something as well - as he will leave for nothing after the season anyway. But having Montoya as a backup in an eventual playoff run is maybe too risky???

Not too bad, If Hossa is producing and continues to do so that might solve a lot of problems, but if he doesn't i'd like to see something like this:
If Hossa pans out on that first line that would be HUGE, Maybe 1st line minutes and playing with Jagr was what Hossa needed to wake up and start to realize his potential. 5 pts (3 goals 2 assists) in the last 5 games. Keep it up baby!
Maybe 1st line minutes and playing with Jagr was what Hossa needed to wake up and start to realize his potential.
Or maybe it's merely Jagr who is turning him into something - as Jagr did with Kip Miller. In that case Hossa must go when Jagr goes; his value will be maximized at that point.
