I love the talent we have in Denver but now that the big club is starting to round out somewhat with talent and experience, it will be interesting to see how they cultivate a talent pool at the lower level. Now that we should be drafting 18 and lower for a while, there should be more talent funneling through our AHL club.

I wonder Bigras will spend time at Lake Erie. He's having a rough year it seems.
I wish they did but they don't.

No, they resemble more of the Sacco style of dump and chase or they get into a skating contest and trade breakaways all night. Their PK is actually effective, so perhaps some of that is Roy influenced because that's the only thing they do well. I'd love for Roy to find his own coach down there but I'm not sure the people in Colorado care that much. I also feel a real reluctance from Roy to use anyone from Lake Erie so maybe he knows it's not a good situation down there.

I'd love to see more talent from draft picks, and hopefully a couple good additions next year. Bourke is up to 14th in WHL scoring now. Some high end talent with first round picks would be nice too. As far as Bigras, you mean this season once his junior season is over? I hope so. I think he's doing ok, he's just on a terrible team that can't score. He himself has been scoring more lately.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chynoweth gets fired and Roy brings in one of his buddies from Juniors.

I hope this happens. It was hard enough to believe that he wasn't fired last year.

I could not find the info after a cursory search, but I believe his contract is up after this season. Either way he needs to be gone.

I was wondering if it was a combination wanting to see how Roy would do first and/or a contract.

Personally I think the sooner they get rid of Cheynworth the better, as for Bigras I think Roy sees a lot of Vlasic in him.

And at that point we can only hope that he (Chynoweth) hasn't messed up our young players beyond redemption.

I don't think the impact of 1 or 2 seasons is that bad...the most important thing is getting those guys to play a lot of games.

Who do we have down there anyhow?

Elliott - may be redundant with the emergence of Barrie. Could be traded soonish.
Hishon - his eventual impact on the Avs is questionable at best.
Siemens - its his first full year and he been injured
Heard - its his first full year
Smith - its his first full year

The rest are prospects who are unlikely to make an impact or may do so only in a depth capacity or goalies who just need to get games in.

They will certainly need to replace the staff in Lake Erie next season with a coaching staff that has a team that plays a style that's more comparable to how the Avs play for sure but I doubt that Chynoweth really ruined anyone. Just my opinion.

If Sacco didn't ruin Duchene or anyone else, then Chynoweth won't ruin any of the kids on the farm.

The only situation in recent memory I can recall where a coach may actually have ruined a player is Mike Keenan being borderline abusive toward Stephen Weiss. But even then Weiss recovered nicely, so I don't think a coach can truly ruin a player's career, even at the developmental stages. Maybe delay it, yes (ex: Manny Malhotra) but if a player doesn't make it in the NHL, that usually means he just wasn't NHL material.

That's because there isn't much to ruin.

In general I agree but I really wonder if one more year under Sacco might have pushed EJ past the point of no return.

I don't think the kids on the farm are all that talented, though I do like a few of the prospects. A new coach may uncover some talent that is rotting away. The team might also be served by having some actual higher end talent rather than asking 20 year olds or career AHLers to do more than they can handle. So its a viscous circle that doesn't really lead to any answers.

Out of the forwards I just hope we can get a solid depth player or two who can play in the bottom six.

I have much higher hopes for a guy like Siemens but injuries have really slowed his development. He'll need at least another year or two in the AHL so hopefully there will be a new coach in place.

Once upon a time Chynoweth coached in juniors and had some success.

Yeah, I remember hearing about that when there were some rumours of him replacing Sacco after last season.

Monsters playing Iowa tonight. In their neon jerseys, going to make for a fun highlight vid. Sami gets the start as Pickard is fully back in the doghouse. Agozzino actually gets the Monsters a goal first, he's really the only one who can score consistently and does it again. As far as injuries, Schumacher is back but Carey goes on the list. Still no Hishon.

In other news, Patterson got CHL goalie of the week two straight weeks now.

Wonder if any team would be willing to swap Hishon plus Sgar for a decent defensive D prospect at this point.

We have lots of decent defensive D prospects. We have some great ones actually. We need a decent defensive roster player.

Looks like this is going to a shootout, in case anyone wants to watch.

http://gofirstrowus.eu/watch/241531/...owa-wild-.html

Why would anyone want Sgar? He was undrafted and he doesn't score. If they want a forward Agozzino has the best numbers.

Thanks! Caught the shootout that time. Tough when you don't score any goals in a 5 skater shootout. Sgarbo's could have been absolutely beauty had it gone in though.

Great, glad I posted it!

You know things are not looking good when Smith doesn't score. He does better when he doesn't get overly fancy. Oh well, one point I guess. At least they are not losing 6-1 anymore.
